The War Machine[1], also known as the Bat-Tank[2] is one of Batman's many vehicles.
History[]
Batman used the War Machine to capture a number of Mutants, a criminal gang operating in Gotham City.[3]
Trivia[]
- A group of apprehended criminals can be seen in the glow of the War Machine's lights. They're small, but they're distinctly wearing eye shields based on the Mutants from The Dark Knight Returns, just as the vehicle itself is based on The Dark Knight Returns.
- According to Jay Oliva, the inclusion of the Mutants was Zack Snyder's idea and an homage to the Frank Miller comic.[4] Oliva confirmed, "Zack always has a love for Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns so I thought it was a fun easter egg for him to throw that in there."[5]
Behind the Scenes[]
- The War Machine is a reference to the Batmobile from The Dark Knight Returns.
- The criminals that Batman apprehended with the vehicle resemble the Mutants from The Dark Knight Returns.
- The shot of Batman standing on the War Machine was supposedly one of the last-minute additions to Zack Snyder's Justice League.[2]
- The theatrical version of the film had previously utilized the Batwing in its closing shot with Batman.
