"The scarab chose you, but it doesn't belong to you. It belongs to me."
―Victoria Kord to Jaime Reyes[src]

Victoria "Vicki" Kord was the nefarious CEO of Kord Industries and the estranged sister of Ted Kord. Jealous for not getting the position of her father's company, Kord was filled with anger and revenge against her brother, finding Khaji-Da to create cybernetic soldiers called OMAC, starting with Ignacio Carapax, which brought him into conflict with her niece Jenny Kord and Khaji-Da's guest Jaime Reyes, but despite their efforts, Kord failed in her plans, being killed and betrayed by Carapax, after he learned that she killed his mother by ordering the bomb strike.

Personality[]

Victoria was an intelligent, ambitious, and greedy woman who was dedicated to the family business and willing to do whatever it took to get power and other natural resources, under the guise of making the world safe for democracy. She held great resentment towards her family because her father gave Kord Industries to her irresponsible brother instead of her.[1] She threatened her niece, Jenny Kord to stay out of her way or she would kill her. She considered Jenny to be the same as Ted who Victoria called pathetic.

She was very racist, seeing people of ethnic minorities as nothing but cheap labor. Her racism was so strong to the point that she didn't even bother to remember their name, often calling them by stereotypes like "Sanchez".

She was also a lying manipulator as she manipulated Ignacio Carapax to forget about his mother's death at her hands. After OMAC's defeat by Jaime Reyes, she was shocked that Ignacio found out the truth about his mother's death.

In the end, she was nothing more than a coward when she begged her former henchman, Ignacio, to spare her life, but to no avail due to his revenge on her for killing his mother.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Victoria Kord was originally a new character created specifically for the film, so to build up brand synergy, the character made her first comic appearance in Blue Beetle Graduation Day #2, where she is presented as Ted Kord's sister. Her role in the movie and relation to Ted, however, could be based on Jarvis Kord, Ted's evil uncle who manipulated Dan Garrett (the first Blue Beetle) to help create an army of robots to take over the world. With Ted's help, Dan was able to stop Jarvis, but the laboratory was destroyed. Dan was buried in the rubble and died from his injuries, but not before imploring Ted to take up the mantle of Blue Beetle to continue his fight against crime.
  • Sharon Stone was first announced to be in the running for the role prior to Susan Sarandon being confirmed to have been cast.[2]
