Silas Stone was the head of S.T.A.R. Labs, directly responsible for the transformation of his human son, Victor Stone, into the biomechatronic organism Cyborg.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Silas Stone was born in Metropolis City on May 2,[1] 1969. He was known to have met and married his wife Elinore Stone at some point. The two then went on to have a son named Victor.[2]
Victor Stone's incident[]
Highly devoted to his work at S.T.A.R. Labs, Silas frequently missed a lot of his son's football games, a fact that put stress on his relationship with his son. As it turned out, his absence later assured that he would not be present in the car accident that later claimed his wife's life while severely destroying much of his son's body. Upon arriving at the hospital and receiving the news of his wife's death and his son's imminent demise, Silas became overwhelmed with grief and stubborness, refusing to accept that his son might die. Silas thus brought his son to S.T.A.R. Labs in a desperate bid to save him.[2] He attempted to revive his son using normal medical procedures which all failed.[3]

Silas uses a Mother Box to save his son Victor.
Frustrated and out of options, Silas resorted to activating a mysterious alien Mother Box from Apokolips to help his son. As Silas brought the Mother Box to Victor, it generated electrical discharges and disintegrated into Victor, creating appendages and repairing his body whilst also causing Victor intense pain and suffering. All of this was filmed, later found and kept by Lex Luthor.[3]

While packing everything up at S.T.A.R. Labs and going home, Stone left the Red Room and gave it to Howard Jensen to take over. Although before he could leave, Howard sympathetically told Silas that his son, Victor, was a wonderful kid, to which Stone thanked him and left S.T.A.R. Labs.[4]
Trying to hide his new face from the people and the Mother Box, Victor waited for his father coming to the Stone residence and heard him telling him not to conceal himself. But as he processed everything in his new cybernetic mind, he kept interrupting his father about why he won't show himself and why the Mother Box is hidden from Silas. Victor asked if any of the scientists of S.T.A.R. Labs knew if he was alive, so Silas had not thought of them ready to see a "monster" when Stone turned around and looked at his father as he meant himself as a cyborg.[4]

Silas knew and remembered the accident his son had been through two years ago. He told him that he lost Victor's mother Elinore Stone in that accident and he couldn't bear to lose his son, too. Victor then told him that he was afraid of his new abilities, noting that every time he woke up in the morning, he was different; somehow modified. Silas was going to ask him how he knows everything about his cybernetic powers, but then Victor showed him floating with his thrusters under his robotic feet, telling his father that he couldn't do that the previous night. Silas listened to Victor worrying about another alien invasion coming to Earth, figuring out if he's a "visitor from a planet", just like the Sword of Rao from Krypton.[4]
Kidnapped by Steppenwolf[]
Silas was later kidnapped by Steppenwolf, the cruel commander of the Parademons armies, which was sent to Earth to obtain the Mother Boxes and to use them to terraform Earth. After obtaining two of the boxes, Steppenwolf has kidnapped various humans from around S.T.A.R. Labs, and tortured them to learn what they know about the location of the box that was entrusted to mankind and was lost eons ago. One of those humans was Silas, but he later had been rescued by the Justice League team, in which his son is a member of.[4]

The return of Superman[]
During the Battle of Hero's Park, Silas quickly realized that Steppenwolf would take advantage of the chaos and retrieve the Box of Man. Covering it with his coat, Silas rushed to a test chamber containing a laser to superheat the core of the Motherbox, ensuring that the Justice League would be able to track its location. Unfortunately, Steppenwolf arrived before Silas could leave the chamber. Realizing he had to choose between his own life and the fate of the world, Dr. Stone activated the laser while he was still in the chamber, superheating the box and vaporizing him. Victor, arriving too late to save him, realized Silas's sacrifice would allow the Justice League to locate Steppenwolf's stronghold in Pozharnov, ultimately playing into Steppenwolf's defeat.[2]

After the League's victory, Victor reassembled his father's tape recorder, listening to Silas's final message. Victor later visited his father's grave as he seemingly heeded his father's message of hope for his son.[2]

Silas loved his son Victor more than anything and would do anything to save him from death, and he used a Mother Box to save him. When Victor chose to hide from the public, Silas helped him to hide.
Silas is very brave, as shown when Steppenwolf's Parademons kidnapped him along with all the other S.T.A.R. Labs employees. Not only he didn't beg for mercy like the other abductees, he actually spoke up to Steppenwolf, bravely refusing to tell him about the Mother Box, despite the Steppenwolf's threats.

Behind the Scenes[]
Differences in Justice League[]
- Silas survived the entire movie and worked with Cyborg at the end rather than sacrificing himself to give the League a chance to track down Steppenwolf.
- His birthdate is 1957 - 12 years earlier than in Zack Snyder's Justice League.
- Much of Silas' screen time was cut.
- Silas' experiments on the Mother Box were removed.
- His plan to superheat the Mother Box so it could be tracked down later was removed.
- Some of Silas' scenes were reshot.
- The scene where he saves his son with the power of the Mother Box was reshot such that Victor's body wasn't badly damaged, and so Silas replaced his flesh with machinery instead of adding machinery as life support.
