- "Here's the thing about power. What good's power, if you got nobody to share it with?"
- ―Billy Batson to Thaddeus Sivana[src]
The Shazam Family is a family of superheroes who were granted the power of the wizard Shazam. They are led by Billy Batson, the wizard's final champion, who ultimately bestowed his abilities to his other siblings, granting them a portion of his powers.
The group officially formed after Billy was targeted and attacked by Thaddeus Sivana, a rejected champion of the wizard empowered by the Seven Deadly Sins, and after defeating Sivana and the Sins together, they decided to become a superhero team protecting their home city of Philadelphia from all that would cause it harm.
History[]
Fighting Thaddeus Sivana[]
Getting a hold of the wizard's staff, Billy and his foster family, yell the wizard's name, and transfer his power to his family, transforming them into the Shazam family, each an adult superhero.
Sivana pursues Shazam and his siblings to a winter carnival, unleashing the Seven Deadly Sins upon the crowd. As Wrath battles Shazam, the other Sins capture his family, demanding his powers. However, when Sivana recalls the sins, Shazam uses the opportunity to take the staff and stuns Sivana.
Remembering the Wizard's words, Billy uses the staff to share his powers, transforming his siblings into adult superheroes like him. Shazam breaks the staff and battles Sivana, whilst his siblings distract the Sins. Shazam baits Envy out of Sivana's body, leaving Sivana powerless, and takes back the Eye of Sin, which recaptures all Seven Sins.
Billy and his family are hailed as heroes, and Billy embraces his foster family as his true family. Returning the Eye and the Sins to their prisons, Billy and siblings realized the now vacant Rock of Eternity can be their new lair and base of operation.[1]
A new hangout[]
- "Lair! We got a lair!"
- ―Billy Batson[src]
After their fight with Sivana and the Sins, they returned to the Rock. Billy put the Eye back and re-imprisoned the Sins. Freddy was thrilled they had found a place of their own. They proceeded to sit down on six of the thrones before noticing there was an empty seventh throne.[2]
Rescue at the Philadelphia Museum of Art[]
While listening to a police scanner in class, Billy and Freddy heard of a police blockade in response to a museum heist. The pair texted Darla, Eugene, Pedro, and Mary to meet at the lockers, where they transformed into their superhero alter-egos and headed for the museum. They arrived and quickly intervened. Billy shielded the police from the spray of a minigun while Eugene sent a bolt of lightning into the thieves. Darla and Pedro each took down a gunner by hand, Pedro bending the barrels of one of the miniguns in the process, and Mary and Freddy each took down another by smashing them with pieces of art from the museum. The robbers were detained and the art was returned.[3]

At some point, the Shazam Family discovered a magical doorway into Kandor, accessible via the Rock of Eternity. They noted the location upon a sketched out board along with other noteworthy locations with their own doorways such as Themyscira, Beck World and Crocodile Land.[4]
