The Riddler is a supervillain who became an enemy of the Batman. His shirt is hung in the Batcave.

Biography

"Croc was briefly in competition with a small army of Batman villains under the leadership of the Joker. But in his time as a crime boss, Croc employed such experienced henchmen as the Riddler and Penguin."

Sometime within his criminal career, Riddler served as a henchman under Killer Croc.

At some point, Riddler most likely came into conflict with Batman, as Batman kept his shirt in the Batcave with other trophies and memorabilia. The extent of the conflict(s) is unknown, but it may or may not have involved the old Gotham City Police Department headquarters, now derelict, which features the Riddler's question mark logo graffitied on a pillar.

• In the comics, Edward Nygma is a master strategist, supervillain, and criminal known as the Riddler, who incorporates riddles into his crimes in Gotham City and is a common adversary of the Batman.
  • In the New Earth version, the Riddler's real name was Edward Nashton before he changed it to Edward Nigma for a new goal in life. However, in some other versions, he was born as Edward Nigma, Edward Nygma, E. Nigma, or Edward E. Nigma.
• In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a shirt worn by The Riddler is in the Batcave. The shirt was sold in auction in by Premiere Props in November 2019.
• According to Zack Snyder, Riddler was almost included in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It went as far as detailed discussions with the film's co-writer Chris Terrio. Ultimately, it was decided to focus more on the unfolding story between Batman and Superman.
• In a proposed version of Justice League Part Two, the Riddler was meant to appear as part of the Injustice League. He would have been an assistant to Lex Luthor and forced by him to solve the Anti-Life Equation. When confronted by Batman, Riddler would eventually take his own life. This sequel was planned to have continued on from Riddler's initial appearance into the proposed The Batman film at the time.
