In 1987, the town's nuclear plant suffered a meltdown, leading to the abandonment and slow deterioration of the city.[1]
21st century[]
Battle of Pozharnov[]
In 2017, Pozharnov became the base of operation for Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons. After collecting all the Mother Boxes, he tried to recreate the Unity, but the Mother Boxes were disabled and he was ultimately slain by the Justice League.[1] The Daily Planet published an article regarding the battle and the extensive damage it caused to the city.[2]

- The nuclear incident event shares similarites to the Chernobyl disaster. However, this event happened in Ukraine.
- The military town Skrunda-1 in Latvia was photographed and digitally recreated as a basis for Pozharnov.[3]
