One day, as the young Ignacio returned from grabbing water, he greeted his mother. However, as Carapax walked, the two saw as an airplane bombed their house, killing Ignacio's mother, to his sorrow. After the attack, Carapax stole a locket with his and his mother's picture which survived the raid and ran and hid in the jungle.
Eventually, Carapax was found by Victoria Kord, who saw the potential for him to be manipulated into what she wanted, decided to send Carapax to a military group, who forced the boy to shave his head and fight in the army, with him later being given the rank of Lieutenant.[1]

Luckily, the procedure was successful and Carapax decided to operate as Victoria's bodyguard, with her reminding him of their encounter to keep him on her side. With Carapax agreeing to take part in Victoria's OMAC project, and had the prototype OMAC device implanted onto his back to create a battle suit to help him in fights.[1]

"We’ll hit the center before sunrise."
"Well, push your men harder. I’ve searched for 15 years. I don’t want to wait another second." - ―Victoria Kord and Ignacio Carapax[src]
Sometime after, her brother, Ted Kord disappeared, Victoria had Carapax look for an alien device, the Scarab, which was used by Ted. Eventually in 2023, Carapax located it in an bunker in Antarctica. Carapax assisted with Victoria and her henchmen as they broke down the bunker to steal the scarab. During this, Victoria introduced Carapax to their head scientist, José Morales, with Carapax ignoring him, with the bunker finally being destroyed, allowing them to take the Scarab.
After obtaining the scarab, Carapax and Victoria returned to Palmera City, keeping an eye for her as she went to her mansion, where he opted to attack one of her employees, Jaime Reyes after he tried to greet her and continued to look over as Victoria talked to her niece Jenny as they fought over the direction of the company, which caused Reyes to be fired when he tried to stick up for Jenny. However, on the following day, the Scarab was mysteriously taken.
Despite that, Victoria and Carapax hosted a party that night for their work on the OMAC, with Kord personally introducing the generals to Carapax and his achievements. However, Carapax feeling misplaced walked out with Kord meeting up with him in the kitchen to remind him how she found and fixed him to encourage him to continue on. However, Victoria and Carapax were alerted to someone infiltrating Kord Industries, with Carapax personally going to confront the intruders.[1]
Skirmish at Kord Plaza[]
- "You should have finished me when you had the chance."
- ―Ignacio Carapax to Jaime Reyes[src]
Upon Carapax arriving to the Kord Plaza, he saw that the intruders were Jaime Reyes and Jenny Kord. Despite them wanting to get away from him, Carapax ran to fight Reyes and Kord, however Reyes, who had bonded with the Scarab, stopped his punch, surprising Carapax, who received a blow against a statue. Knowing that the fight would be hard, Carapax activated the OMAC device, causing the OMAC armor to materialize around him.
Now prepped, Carapax began to unload all of his weapons on Reyes, causing Khaji to take over and fight Carapax. When Reyes flew towards him, Carapax tried to defend himself, crashing into a truck, in which Carapax could knock down Reyes and start shooting, launching several missiles as he saw Reyes coming out of his hiding place behind a car, which he kicked, trying to crush him with the vehicle near a fence, and Khaji-Da then caused a sonic explosion that made Carapax to fly away, being hit by a car.
Carapax angered and continued the fight, but he received numerous blows from Reyes along with a blaster that knocked him to the ground, as Carapax was still motionless, Reyes refused to kill him, claiming not to be a killer. When Reyes distracted by seeing Jenny Kord and Rudy Reyes heading for him in the truck, Carapax shot them and attacked Reyes.
Being dissappointed by his escape attempt, Carapax used his strength to hit him against a car, as Reyes continued to deny Khaji-Da to kill him. Carapax was able to use his foot to begin to crush Reyes, listening to Reyes' supplications, but Carapax claimed that love for his family was his weakness, however, before that Carapax was hit by a machine made by Jaime's uncle Rudy, briefly knocking him out.[1]

During the transfer, Carapax saw his mother’s portrait on his necklace, which fell off after being connected to Reyes' machine, observing how Kord kept it for him. When the scarab code was extracted at one hundred percent, Carapax rose from his seat as the armor was upgraded, sticking completely to his body. Fully empowered, Carapax quickly killed Sanchez when he helped Reyes to escape, destroying the door in a fit of rage.[1]

Carapax summoned another sword, but Reyes used his sword to cause an explosion, causing Carapax to collapse to the ground and tried to shoot Reyes with his blaster. During their fight with swords, Reyes took advantage of his new confidence in learning to fight with his armor, but Carapax rose up to resist the sword’s attack, stabbing Reyes in his stomach and claiming that only one of the two could exist, having defeated Reyes, Carapax tried to kill him, but he was suddenly attacked by legs of Reyes' armor.
Carapax defended himself, severely wounding Reyes against the ground and striking him, mocking him as he told him that his family was his weakness, but began to be attacked with rocks by Rudy Reyes, whom Carapax shot, unleashing Reyes' wrath after he thought he killed him, releasing a great load of energy against him, leaving Carapax immobilized as Reyes brutally beat him outside the lab to hold him with chains and attack him.[1]

- ―Ignacio Carapax to Victoria Kord[src]
On the ground, Carapax continued to be brutally beaten by Jaime Reyes, mocking for not killing him at the first opportunity, and summoning his sword to kill him and avenge his father, however Khaji-Da stopped him because they were not murderers, showing Reyes the past of Carapax for the loss of his mother and the cruel experiments of Victoria Kord, making Carapax weep for the memory, causing Reyes to spare his life. Carapax was raised by Reyes, who mentioned that love for his family was his strength, making Carapax reflect.
After the admendment, Carapax saw Kord on the ground, receiving the order to kill them, but instead of following her orders, Carapax asked Reyes and Jenny Kord to run away from Pago Island, asking Reyes to take care of his family. Carapax listened to Kord’s suggestions for further improvement, however he regained her necklace, overloading his armor to kill himself along with Kord, happily watching his mother call him from beyond, following her voice into the fire. Dragging Kord and accepting his fate, Carapax remembered that sacrifices must be made for the greated good, achieving his redemption when his armor exploded.[1]
