"Didn’t you say that Kordax turned his people into an army of monsters?"
"Yes. I did."
Brine King and Orm Marius[src]

The Necrusian Soldiers were the military service of the Kingdom of Necrus. After King Kordax exploited Orichalcum and resented his brother, King Atlan, he created the Black Trident and used it to turn himself and his people into monsters. They participated in the Necrus-Atlantis war between Atlan and Kordax.

Notably, these soldiers wore yellow armor with black bodysuits underneath and protective helmets with transparent glass and wielded plasma rifles, not unlike those of the Atlantean Men-of-War’s Hydro-Pulse Rifles.

History[]

Ancient Times[]

Between 753 B.C. and 1000 A.D., King Kordax, the younger brother of King Atlan, ruled the Kingdom of Necrus in Antarctica. Kordax made Necrus grow by exploiting the fuel Orichalcum, massively polluting the ocean and the sea. Atlan pleaded with his brother to stop his reckless actions, only for Kordax to mistake his older brother trying to steal his power. And so, Kordax resorted to dark magic and created the Black Trident, turning his people and himself into undead monsters.

Necrusian War[]

Now completely mad, Kordax and Necrus went to war with Atlan and Atlantis, As the Necrusian and Atlantean forces fired at each other, Kordax and Atlan dueled each other with their tridents, only for Atlan to win the brutal battle and slice his younger brother’s hand off and the Black Trident into two pieces. Afterwards, Atlan used his blood to freeze Necrus and seal Kordax and his remaining forces underneath the ice for millennia.

Battle at Necrus[]

Thousands of years after the war between Necrus and Atlantis, Aquaman, Orm Marius, King Nereus, the Brine King, and a contingent of soldiers infiltrated Necrus to stop Black Manta from killing Arthur Curry, Jr.. The team was attacked by the Necrusian Undead. Some of these undead inhabitants of Necrus in particular wore ravaged and remains of Necrusian armor indicating, that indeed, some of the mindless monsters were men who served Kordax.[1]

Physiology[]

The Necrusian Soldiers wore yellow armor, while also sporting jetpacks. They wear diver-like helmets with transparent glass. Finally, underneath their armor, they use black bodysuits with gold accents and ski masks.

Capabilities[]

Atlantean Physiology: Necrusian Soldiers were capable of many abilities and some of them apparently include:

  • Superhuman Strength: Like all Atlanteans, Necrusian Soldiers were superhumanly strong and must’ve been capable of superhuman feats.
  • Superhuman Durability: Not wearing their armor, Necrusian Soldiers were more durable than regular humans. But with their armor, they are harder to kill and can survive blasts from Hydro-Pulse Rifles. One of the Necrusian Undead brutes was seen surviving one of Mera’s hydrokinesis water blasts.
  • Superhuman Speed: Due to Atlantean physiology, Necrusian Soldiers must’ve been able to swim at supersonic speeds.
  • Flight: Necrusian Soldiers are capable of using their jetpacks on their backs to lift off into the air and fly. Many soldiers were seen doing this during the Necrus-Atlantis War.
  • Enhanced Vision: Like every kind of Atlantean, Necrusians’ vision helped them see in the dark environment of the ocean. From their perspectives, the seemingly dark environment of the icy waters of Necrus is bright and lit, with the city being as clear as though they were on land.
  • Aquatic Respiration: The Necrusians were able to breathe underwater. During the time when Necrus was above the water and at its peak, the Necrusians could breathe air. When the undead inhabitants of Necrus became free, they were shown to be able to breathe both air and water. This is different from normal Atlanteans, who can only breathe water.

Equipment[]

  • Necrusian Plasma Rifles: Necrusian Soldiers wielded these plasma rifles, which they used in the Atlantis-Necrus war against Atlantean Men-of-War. Thousands of years after being turned into monsters by Kordax, the former soldiers no longer used these.
  • Necrusian War Spears: Necrusian Soldiers were seen holding these spears in Kordax’s throne room, when Atlan tried to plead with him to stop exploiting Orichalcum. The spears were briefly seen in action during the Atlantis-Necrus War in the background.
