- "You fail to follow my orders in any way and I detonate the explosive device in the base of your skull."
- ―Amanda Waller to Savant[src]
Nano-Bombs (or nanites) are nano-scaled explosives that are injected into the Task Force X by Amanda Waller to track and keep them in check. They could be detonated by Nano-Bomb Detonators.
History[]
Battle of Midway City[]
The explosives were designed and manufactured by Van Criss Labs, commissioned by Amanda Waller for her Task Force X. When the group was authorized by the United States government, several packages containing nano-explosives were sent to Belle Reve to be injected into all members of the group, with the exception of Katana and Rick Flag.
These were used in case any of the criminals got out of control or disobeyed Waller's orders. When Slipknot attempted to escape, Flag activated his detonator, causing him to explode. Eventually, Flag destroyed his detonator activation device, setting the criminals free. However, they regrouped to stop Enchantress and Incubus, which they successfully accomplished.[1]
Mission in Corto Maltese[]
During the Corto Maltese mission, Amanda Waller deployed nano-bombs in all team members. When Savant tried to flee the battlefield during the beach assault, Waller detonated his bomb as a warning to the others. The device proved effective in maintaining control, but tensions rose after the surviving team refused to abandon the city during Starro’s rampage.
As Waller prepared to detonate their bombs, she was knocked unconscious by her own team, preventing the executions. The incident exposed the limits of control—even with kill-switches—and signaled growing unrest within A.R.G.U.S. ranks.[2]
Capabilities[]
The nano-bombs were applied via an injection in a person's neck. Despite being the size of a grain of rice, they had the same amount of power as a hand grenade. Amanda Waller had these applied to the members of Task Force X to ensure they would not deviate from the mission.
