Nam-Ek was a Kryptonian war criminal and member of the Sword of Rao, as well as the strongest soldier of General Dru-Zod. Unlike his Earth-1 counterpart, Nam-Ek managed to help Zod defeat his enemies, personally killing Batman.
Biography[]
Joining the Sword of Rao[]
Nam-Ek became a loyal follower of General Dru-Zod, joining the latter's radical Sword of Rao movement, and thus helped them in trying to possess the Growth Codex. After Krypton imploded, they set out in an attempt to locate it across the universe, finding a newborn Kal-El but not the Codex.[1]
Kryptonian Attack[]
Many years later in 2013, the Sword of Rao tracked a signal from Kara Zor-El's Starcraft and in search for the kryptonian, eventually led them to planet Earth.[1]
Battle at Edwards Air Force Base[]
When Zod sent the Sword of Rao to attack the military after they failed to deliver the kryptonian traitor, Nam-Ek came out of one of the many Kryptonian dropships that had landed at the Edwards Air Force Base and began to attack several soldiers. At one point, he managed to grab a missile and used it to hit several soldiers and then threw it at a helicopter, causing it to explode.
A few minutes later, while Nam-Ek was going to attack a group of soldiers, he was instead shot at by the Batwing. Angry, Nam-Ek started running towards the Batwing which fired some missiles but this did no harm to Nam-Ek who jumped on the Batwing and broke it's window.
Batman put the Batwing in a rotation mode so that Nam-Ek couldn't reach to him but he was getting closer and closer to the vigilante so Batman jumped out off the Batwing by the window that Nam-Ek broke. The Batwing fell to the ground, exploding. However, Nam-Ek had not suffered any damage. He started to walk away from the now destroyed Batwing but Batman, with his grapple gun, shot him from behind and started attacking him with sticky bombs. Batman managed to detonate two bombs before Nam-Ek grabbed him by the cape and fatally threw him to the ground.
Nam-Ek would begin to walk slowly towards Batman without knowing that he had placed one last bomb behind his head. The bomb exploded, leaving Nam-Ek unconscious. However, the damage he had done to Batman was obvious and he would die in Flash's arms shortly after. A few seconds after the vigilante's death, Nam-Ek would wake up and upon seeing the two Flashes, he would try to attack them. The young Flash would start shooting lightning from his hands but his older self, seeing that it was useless, would run off the battlefield to return fully charged. The older Flash would shoot a very powerful lightning from his hands at Nam-Ek, which together with their lightning that his younger self was shooting with, ends up exploding his armor, presumably killing him in the process.[1]
Legacy[]
It is possible that Nam-Ek was killed from the Flashes' attack that blew up his battle armor, as pieces of it would be impaled against the young Flash's arm when he fails to completely phase through the debris of armor. This piece was then used as a weapon by the young Flash to coldly kill Faora-Ul, and became the first of many pieces of Kryptonian armor shards that the young Flash would have embedded onto his body.[1]
Personality[]
Nam-Ek, while being inhumanly huge and muscular, has limited intelligence and is unable to speak.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
Hybrid Physiology: As a Kryptonian, Nam-Ek's bone structure is almost identical to that of a human. On a planet near a red class M main-sequence star (like Krypton with its sun Rao), Nam-Ek would have physical attributes nearly identical to those of humans, but if on a planet near a yellow G-type main-sequence star (like Earth), he has many new abilities and powers, all of them far beyond the capabilities of humans and even metahumans, making him appear godlike. However, Nam-Ek notably never did manage to master the powers of heat vision, X-ray vision, super breath, and flight.
- Superhuman Strength: Nam-Ek has a tremendous level of superhuman strength, virtually incalculable. He can effortlessly hurl heavy objects great distances, kill numerous human soldiers by swinging around a missile, shatter concrete, break through thick metal walls and doors with ease, easily cling to the rotating Batwing, mortally wound Batman by hurling him against the ground, and fight two versions of the Flash at the same time.
- Superhuman Leaps: Nam-Ek is able to use his incredible strength to perform super jumps, shown when he easily leaped onto the Batwing.
- High-Invulnerability: Nam-Ek's body is incredibly durable, virtually indestructible. Hence, he can withstand massive explosions, falls from great heights, high-caliber bullets, Batman's sticky bombs, anti-tank depleted uranium rounds, Maverick missiles, torrents of Speed Force lightning, plasma bolts from Kryptonian weaponry, super-speed blows from both Flashes, remaining unscathed, though the Flashes ultimately managed to knock him out with supercharged lightning . While Nam-Ek can be affected by the considerable force of powerful impacts, at most they only cause him to stumble and briefly knock him down, leaving him unscathed. For instance, bolts of Speed Force lightning made him stumble back only a little bit, supercharged Speed Force lightning broke through Nam-Ek's armor and visor, but not his body, and Batman sticking a bomb behind Nam-Ek's head knocked the latter out for a few minutes. The only things capable of breaking through Nam-Ek's invulnerability and actually harming him are beings of comparable incalculable strength (such as other Kryptonians), as they are strong enough to physically break though his invulnerability.
- Superhuman Speed: Nam-Ek, in spite of his inhumanly huge physique, can run and react at incredible speeds, since Batman wasn't able to dodge him for long. However, Nam-Ek is still noticeably slower and less nimble than less bulky fellow Kryptonians Supergirl, Faora, and General Zod, as well as both versions of the Flash.
- Superhuman Stamina: Nam-Ek almost never grows tired if he is continuously powered by the yellow sun of Earth. Hence, he ferociously battled with Batman and numerous human soldiers without ever needing to stop and catch his breath.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Nam-Ek, in the rare instances when he is hurt, is capable of healing at superhuman speeds, especially in direct sunlight. However, if the injuries are serious enough to instantly kill him, his healing factor will not be able to save him.
Abilities[]
- Expert Combatant: Nam-Ek is a fierce and ruthless combatant, though his fighting style, unlike the more sophisticated ones of General Zod and Sub-Commander Faora, is one based more on brute force and his huge hulking physique rather than martial arts, though it is just as effective. Thus, he quickly grabbed and killed the agile Batman. However, both versions of the Flash managed to dodge and weave around Nam-Ek, eventually breaking through his armor and visor with lightning.
Weaknesses[]
- Sensory Overload: Nam-Ek, due to not having had the time to adjust to Earth's atmosphere and develop all of his vision and hearing powers, gets overwhelmed by visual and auditory input after the Flash breaks open his armor and visor. This presumably knocks him unconscious or rather presumably kills him.
Equipment[]
- Kryptonian Battle Armor: Nam-Ek was never seen without a suit of extremely durable and fiercely intimidating Kryptonian battle armor, equipped with a breather.
