The Murder of Robin was the execution of Batman's protégé, Robin by the Joker and his girlfriend Harley Quinn.
Background[]
Robin was the protégé of Batman and aided him in combating crime in Gotham City. However, at some point before the Battle of Metropolis, the young vigilante was captured and later killed by the Joker, with the aid of his girlfriend Harley Quinn.
After the psychopathic crime duo murdered Robin, Joker spray painted a sadistic message on Robin's suit in hopes of driving his adversary into madness. The suit was later found by Batman who then came to the conclusion that his protégé was murdered by his greatest adversary. Robin's death would leave Batman infuriated and to personally seek vengeance on the Joker.
Aftermath[]
In an act of revenge, Batman bashed the Joker's teeth in, permanently damaging the Joker's smile before defeating him and sending him to Arkham Asylum. Robin's death also had an impact of Batman's view on crime in Gotham City as he became increasingly ruthless in handling it. Batman stored the vandalized suit on a display in the Batcave as a monument of his late protégé and to serve as a reminder of his crusade against crime.
