The Metropolis Police Department (MPD) is the primary municipal police force responsible for law enforcement and investigation in the city of Metropolis.

Formation[]
The Metropolis Police Department was formed in 1776 and has been in operation since.[1]
Black Zero Event[]
In 2013, many first responders and members of the Metropolis Police Department directed as many citizens to safety as possible during the chaos and destruction caused when the Black Zero began terraforming the city, including Jenny Jurwich, Steve Lombard, and Perry White.[1]
Assault on Wayne Enterprises[]
After the Black Zero Event, a group of criminals broke into the Wayne Enterprises Facility in Metropolis using Kryptonian weapons. Superman stopped the criminals and handed them over to the police on the street.[2]
