Doctor José Francisco Morales Rivera de la Cruz, known as Sanchez by Victoria Kord, was a scientist who worked for Kord Industries. Working for Kord, Rivera de la Cruz helped his boss chase Jaime Reyes and extract Khaji-Da from his brain. However, he chose to betray her to help Reyes because of her wickedness, leading to his death at the hands of Ignacio Carapax.

José Morales began working at Kord Industries, serving as an assistant to Victoria Kord, who started calling him "Sanchez", making Morales uncomfortable. After finally finding Khaji-Da in South America, Morales met with Kord and Ignacio Carapax, and tried to inform them of the discovery, but Kord didn’t pay attention, even though Morales was concerned that what they would find might be another sham. However, Kord knew it was the real one, watching as her excavation team finally found Khaji-Da, taking it to investigate in Palmera City.[1]
Theft of Khaji-Da[]

Morales realizes that Khaji-Da was stolen.
At the Kord Tower, Morales began experimenting on Khaji-Da to learn how to use it and create cyber armor under orders from Victoria Kord, but retired to take a break. Upon returning, Morales sat in his chair to eat his Big Belly Burger, however, he quickly realized that Khaji-Da had been stolen, worrying Morales about the theft, Which led to the building being sealed off from the perpetrator, which turned out to be a failure.[1]
Attack on the Reyes Household[]
Morales sees Jaime Reyes fight against the soldiers.
Along with Kord and Carapax, Morales went with a helicopter to invade the Reyes Household, as they discovered that Jaime Reyes had been linked to Khaji-Da, causing Kord to order several soldiers to threaten the family, before Reyes showed up using his armor’s abilities against the soldiers. Morales watched with horror as Carapax captured Reyes mercilessly while grieving over the death of his father Alberto Reyes, but Morales remained quiet, feeling sorry for him.[1]

On Pago Island, Victoria Kord placed Jaime Reyes in an extraction machine to snatch the powers from Khaji-Da, ordering Morales to prepare for the process. Morales kept preparing the machine until he was frightened by Reyes, asking him to release him, but despite wanting to help, Morales apologized to him when Kord interrupted, forced to follow his boss’s plans about transfering his powers to Ignacio Carapax and make him a powerful soldier.

Morales criticized Kord’s plan, warning that the process could kill Reyes because of the bond they formed, but Kord stated that sacrifices must be made for the greater good, ordering him to begin the process, calling him "Sanchez" again, even though Morales tried to correct her. By Kord's orders, Morales connected Carapax to Reyes, starting with the transfer and confronting Kord, clarifying that they could find out more about his connection to Khaji-Da, but Kord was not interested in.

When Reyes was able to break free from the chains and Carapax had gained powers similar to those of Reyes, Morales saw Reyes try to escape, hearing Kord’s order to prevent his escape. However, he decided to help Reyes, asking him to find his family and escape the island, closing the door to ensure their escape. While Kord was scolding him by calling him "Sanchez," Morales rebelled against her, mentioning his real name and saying goodbye to Reyes, before Carapax killed Morales for his betrayal.[1]
Personality[]
"Sanchez" was once loyal towards Victoria Kord. However, he hates being called Sanchez because it wasn't really his name. He is remorseful when reluctantly experimenting on Khaji-Da in OMAC. However, he is honorable when he betrayed Victoria for calling him "Sanchez" as well freeing Blue Beetle and letting him escape even in a cost of his life.
