"This is what Bruce was talking about. Barry, this is inevitable. We can try a million times and we're not gonna be able to fix this. No matter what we do... this world dies. Today."
Older Barry to Young Barry[src]

An Inevitable Intersection is an event in time that was meant to happen and could not be evaded or stopped in any way.

History[]

Batman's Mistake[]

After having murdered a criminal in front of his son, Bruce Wayne retired as Batman and began to investigate about Time Travel in hopes of fix his mistake one day, discovering the inevitable intersections in the process.[1][2]

Rescue of Supergirl[]

"You know what I'm stuck on? That thing you said with the spaghetti. You said there were certain intersections that would always be inevitable.[...]Different worlds, different times... yet there it is. Certain people, certain events, certain strands of spaghetti, drawn to eachother like... like magnets. I've read all about temporal paradoxes and casual loops. But this is more than that. Inevitable intersections are something none of the theories could have inticipated 'cause, well, how do you explain that except for... fate?"
Barry Allen to Bruce Wayne[src]

After Barry Allen traveled back in time to save his mother and arrived to a new timeline, he would meet a younger version of himself and after giving him his powers (losing them in the process) and General Zod sending a message to the entire world for a refugee to be delivered, the two went to find Bruce Wayne at Wayne Manor where he would initially attack them but then decide to invite them to dinner.

Bruce explains the concept of the Multiverse

Bruce explains to the Barrys about the Multiverse and Time Travel.

Barry would be confused about how having changed the past a little had altered everything, so Bruce would begin to explain with spaghetti that changing the past would also change the future. Bruce would then grab a pot of spaghetti and drop the spaghetti on a plate, saying that if a person was stupid enough to mess with time, they would eventually end up with a multiverse. It is there that Bruce mentions how some strands run almost parallel and how there would be inevitable intersections and others that were wildly divergent, pouring tomato sauce on the plate and calling it a hot mess.

Shortly after, when Barry asked Bruce for help to find Superman, he refused and went to his room. With no other option, the two Barrys entered the Batcave where the older Barry would find the Batcomputer which he would use to contact Bruce. Barry would tell Bruce that the inevitable intersections confused him, and that no theory could have initiated them because there was no way to explain them except by fate. Barry would hang up the call, having convinced Bruce to help them rescue Superman.[2]

Battle at Edwards Air Force Base[]

"Barry, this is an inevitable intersection. You have to stop- BARRY!"
Barry Allen to Flash, trying to warn him of the inevitable intersection but the latter doesn't listen.[src]
Batman dies in front of Flash

Batman's second death.

After having rescued the kryptonian from a base in Siberia, which was not Kal-El but was Kara Zor-El, Barry regained his powers and along with the newly formed Justice League, went to fight Zod and the Sword of Rao in the Edwards Air Force Base. Upon arrival, Supergirl went to fight Zod while Batman fought the Kryptonian dropships and the Flashes faced the kryptonian soldiers. However, after several minutes, both Batman and Supergirl would die so the Flashes would travel back in time using Chronobowl to try again. However, the two failed again and Batman and Supergirl died again.

Kara dies for the third time

Zod stabs Supergirl when Barry was about to come to help her.

The young Flash, desperate to save Supergirl, would keep trying again and again but each time Zod would continue to kill Supergirl. His older self would slowly realize that the death of Supergirl, Batman and the terraforming of Earth were an inevitable intersection so he tried to warn his younger self of this but he would continue trying to save Supergirl for 40 years in a row in which he would accumulate many pieces of kryptonian armor on his body, becoming the Dark Flash.[2]

Battle at the Chronobowl[]

"No matter how close I get to winning this fight... you go back and let mom die. You're the inevitable intersection. And do you have to let go."
Dark Flash to Barry Allen[src]
Multiversal collapse

Many universes across the Multiverse enter inside the Chronobowl and began to crash with eachother.

Dark Flash would go back in time and push the older Flash out of the Chronobowl in 2013 so that he could exist. Dark Flash would travel to the future at the time when the older Barry was going to prevent his younger self from traveling back in time again. Dark Flash would soon appear in the Chronobowl again and attack him, then starting to torture him with his lightning powers. Shortly after, the younger Flashpoint self of the older Barry arrives, with whom Dark Flash began a short confrontation which he would lose, revealing that he was the younger Barry but after having tried to save Supergirl countless times. Having attempted to fix an inevitable intersection several times, began to cause several other universes to begin colliding with each other, causing a multiversal disaster.

Dark Flash's Death

Dark Flash gets erased from existence.

The older Barry would start to beg Dark Flash to stop but he angrily shouted he wouldn't until he fixed it. He then revealed that he had pushed him out of the Chronobowl in 2013 for him to ensure his existence continues, and said that he was the inevitable intersection as he would go back and let mom die. After that, Dark Flash would try to kill the older Barry but the younger Barry would get in the way and sacrifice himself, causing Dark Flash to be erased from existence and the younger Barry to die. Seeing that all of his teammates had died and that there was no way to fix an inevitable intersection, Flash erased the Flashpoint Timeline.[2]

Known Inevitable Intersections[]

Trivia[]

  • The Inevitable Intersections are an original concept created for The Flash film.
  • All of the known Inevitable Intersections except for the death of Kara Zor-El seem not to apply on Earth-1.
    • This is because the status of the Kara Zor-El from Earth-1 is unknown. She could be alive or dead.
