"Look, I was just doing my laundry! You're the one who came and told me that I'm a superhero! And now you're saying, what you don't want me to be!? Well guess what!? It's too late! I! AM! ...the Flash. And I can save everyone! NOBODY DIES!"
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]

Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen was a past version of Barry Allen from an alternate timeline produced by Flash's Time Travel. Eventually, Allen met his older self, who helped him get his Speed Force powers and become the Flash. After the arrival of Dru-Zod and the Sword of Rao to Earth, Allen and his older self allied with Batman and Supergirl to stop Zod and his army without success, causing Allen to try to prevent the deaths of his friends by traveling back in time over and over again in the Chronobowl, before he meet the Dark Flash, a future version of himself, and to stop him, he sacrificed himself so that his older self could fix the unsalvageable timeline.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Childhood[]

Barry does his homework

Allen does his math homework.

Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen was born around 1995 in Central City, Ohio to Nora and Henry Allen. When Allen was around 2 years old, he saw footage of Batman and his Batmobile on the news. One day at age 9, Allen had some trouble with his math homework, with his mother advising him that not every problem had a solution. Since then, his mother grew a habit for calling him "monkey" and got him monkey things all the time.[1]

Flashpoint[]

Flashpoint Allen Family

Allen's many experiences and adventures in photos.

In June 13, 2004, as a result of a future version of himself going back in time to prevent the death of his mother by bringing a can of tomato's before his mother left them behind at a store, Allen's life was heavily altered, with him getting to spend time with his parents, and becoming more immature then he would've forced to become. With his life altered, Allen went on many trips to places his future self couldn't and may even have had a pet dog.

Eventually his dog died or was lost before 2013 where Allen, now 18 years old, went onto college, becoming roommates with Gary, Albert Desmond, and Patty Spivot with whom he share his apartment that he rented and that his mother had helped him organize. He also met a girl named Iris West with whom he fell in love and one day he postponed a date with her for September 29th. That day, he went to his parent's residence to get his laundry washed by his mom.[1]

Meeting his Older Self[]

"Th-That's my face. You, you stole my face!"
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
Allen 89 returns to his home

Allen returns to the Allen Residence.

Upon arriving to the Allen Residence, Allen knocked over one of his neighbors trashcans while dancing. However, before he could reach the door, Allen was quickly pinned to the side of the residence by someone, with his clothes covering the assailant's face. Once Allen pulled off the clothes off of him, Allen saw that the attacker looked like him, which Allen was baffled by, causing him to pass out.[1] Unconscious, Allen was carried by his assailant in the bag in which he carried his laundry to his room at the residence.[2]

Barry explains the Multiverse to his 89 self

Allen is explained his powers by his older self.

Eventually, Allen woke up and was explained by his attacker that he was an alternate version of himself, who has superspeed powers, asking his older self was asked if he could make a speed fort for fun under the threat of calling his mom, which his older self did reluctantly. After finishing Allen's overeager, he started rambling on about how awesome it is, making the older Allen almost use his speed to try to knock him out to make him forget their encounter so things could possibly go on as intended.

Barry warns his variant

Allen is warned by his older self about the future.

Before Allen enacted on his plan though, he noticed that the lightning storm that was to give him his powers was approaching. After pulling back, Allen was asked by his older self about what date it was today, with him indivertibly validating it. Freaking out, Allen was told by his older self that he needed to get his powers tonight or he could potentially be stuck if he never gets his powers, to Allen's excitement.[1]

Infiltration into Central City Research Center[]

The Barrys enter inside the center

Allen and his older self infiltrate inside the Central City Research Center.

Arriving at Central City Research Center, Allen's older self noticed that the door of the building was locked, so he carried Allen on his arms, before phasing right through the door, with Allen both being awestricken and nauseas from. Now inside the research center, Allen and his older self waited for the guards to leave the lab his older self was looking for, and upon their absence, Allen got carried again by his older self to phase again, only to realize that the doors automatically open, making their entrance useless.

Young Allen gets struck by lightning

Allen gets struck by lightning.

Now that they were where they needed to be, Allen's older self began to set up him behind a shelf of chemicals, while opening the window to the storm outside. Confused as to what was happening, Allen questioned his older self what was supposed to happen, with Allen admitting that lightning was supposed to strike the chemicals, electrifying them which will splash Allen. Freaked out over being potentially electrocuted, Allen tried to bail, but his older self forced him to stay down, when suddenly, the lightning bolt entered through the window, hitting and electrifying the chemicals, which splashed over Allen and his older self, hitting both at once.

Young Allen confused

Allen looks in confusion at his older self.

Briefly, Allen was knocked out from the hit. However, his newfound speed healing kicked in, healing all of his wounds, with he realizing that his older self's tooth broke off. After the latter glued his fallen tooth in, Allen and his older self attempted to escape the Central City Research Center by phasing. However, while attempting to do so, the two collided with a wall and fell to the ground, causing Allen's older self to realize that he had lost his powers.[1]

Discovering his Powers[]

"Wait. I HAVE POWERS NOW?!"
―Barry Allen[src]
Young Barry gets excited

Allen gets ready to use his newfound powers for the first time.

Upon returning to his apartment, Allen was explained by his older self that while the accident had given him powers, it made him lose his. However, upon Allen hearing that he should have powers now, he perked up to the older Allen's realization. Before his older self could try to talk down, Allen immediately started using his powers sporadically to his pure enjoyment. After briefly stopping, Allen's older self tried to explain to him that he knew that it was incredible exciting because he went through it too, but Allen with a huge smile posed similar to Speedy Gonzales, with Allen saying that he had also done the pose many times earlier.

Young Allen naked

Allen looks at a tambourine in the track.

However, Allen just laughed at again and took off through Central City. While happily running through the streets of the city, Allen stole a person's burrito and attempted to eat it but the contents flew away due to the high speed at which he was going. Suddenly, Allen realized that his clothes had caught fire and tried to put out the flames with his hand before colliding with a light pole and falling in the middle of a track, causing a massive accident in which many cars collided between each other as Allen stripped his clothes to prevent him from burning, which lit up a pile of gasoline finishing off by causing the power lines to be destroyed, darkening the area of the town. Luckily, Allen was able to find a tambourine from the crash before the power outage, using it to cover his privates as he ran back to his apartment.

Barry listens to his older self

Allen listens to his older self's explanation.

After walking in shame to his confused older self, Allen went to his restroom to change into a monkey robe. As the older Allen tried to ask Allen about what had happened, Allen just walked around the room looking for any kind of food, stating that everything is now tasting really good, even commenting that the broccoli he was eating had likely expired a while ago, force feeding his older self. Though Allen, began to get overexcited again, causing him to phase through the floorboards and robe into Mrs. Johanson apartment to her shock.

Young Allen sleeping

Allen's metabolism makes him fall asleep.

This caused Allen to borrow her pot to cover his private area again, and continue eating a jar of peanut butter, with his older self explaining that his new hunger was from his constant need to keep up his metabolism. Trying one last time to talk about his newfound powers, his older self tried to talk to him, only to realize that his newfound fast metabolism had made Allen fall asleep quickly.[1]

Older Barry and Barry Allen[src]
Barry listens to his older self's past

Allen listens to how his older self experienced the Black Zero Event.

The next morning, Allen's older self took him to Central City Park to borrow him his Flash Suit and Ring so that he could test his powers without killing himself, but they were interrupted when they saw how many people around them started running scared. Allen quickly took off his suit and they both went to a bar, where suddenly there was a short circuit. To his older self's surprise, General Dru-Zod began broadcasting a worldwide message to the entire world, asking for an individual to be returned to his custody, with Allen not knowing who Zod was. He would later be explained by his older self about the Black Zero Event in the original timeline and told him that if they reunited the Justice League then maybe they could prevent it from happening again.

My cousin Barry

Allen tries to convince Spivot that his older self is his cousin.

Allen and his older self returned to the apartment but this time they found Gary, Patty Spivot and Albert Desmond. In an attempt to make it not look suspicious that there was another person with his face, Allen lied to Spivot that his older self was his cousin to which Spivot believed him. Eventually Allen's older self found out that all members of the Justice League did not exist in this timeline as he mentioned the superhero names of his teammates but when he mentioned Batman, Spivot jokingly said "I'm Batman", to which Allen's older self asked if Batman existed and Gary answered that yes but that nobody knew who he was. Knowing about Batman's existence in this timeline, Allen was took by his older self out of the apartment, lying that they would go to a cousins' dinner.[1]

Meeting Bruce Wayne[]
"Come on, man, we need you. The world needs you. Come on, you don't want to be Batman again and, like, save the day?!"
―Barry Allen to Bruce Wayne[src]
Young Barry Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

Allen wears an armor in front of his older self.

One day later, Allen and his older self arrived at Wayne Manor in a taxi, with Allen describing the place as hell. Upon entering the manor, the two came to a room with several swords and armors, which excited Allen but his older self asked him not to touch anything.[1] Disobeying him, Allen donned one of the armors while holding a sword, joking that he was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. His older self told him that he looked more like Shredder and Allen put the armor back in its place, which soon fell to the floor.[2]

Young Barry defends himself

Allen catches the frying pan that Wayne threw at him.

After exploring a little further, the Allens arrived at a kitchen where there was apparently no one. Allen noticed a sandal on the floor and upon seeing some bells, suggested that if they rang all the bells, they could find Bruce Wayne. To the surprise of the two, a strange man appears out a closet and tries to attack the Allens, however, Allen manages to dodge all of his attacks thanks to his super speed while his older self instead suffers the attacks. When the man lunges at Allen with a broom, Allen dodges his attack and the man falls into a pastry case, breaking it.

Young Allen eating

Allen hungrily eats spaghetti with tomato sauce and parmesan.

As the Allens approach their attacker, he reveals himself to be "the guy who lives here" and invites the Allens to dinner. Wayne and the older Allen start to talk about Time Travels and the Multiverse as Wayne uses spaghetti to explain the Multiverse while preparing a plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce and parmesan. However, when he noticed that Allen was looking at it like he wanted to eat it, Wayne gave him the plate and Allen, being extremely hungry, ate it quickly, causing noise when chewing, making his older self uncomfortable.

Barry 89 is confused

Allen realizes that Bruce Wayne is Batman.

Shortly after, Allen discovered that Bruce Wayne is actually Batman and gets surprised. His older self asks him what he thought they came to the manor for, to which Allen replied that he thought they came to the cousin's dinner. After a brief talk, Wayne decided not to help the Allens against Dru-Zod and left them,[1] as Allen and his older self followed him, with Allen telling Wayne that the world needed him and asked him if he didn't want to be Batman again and save the day, only to become disappointed when Wayne ignored him completely.[2]

Discovering the Batcave[]

"Screw you, man! I've done nothing but everything you've asked. You made me get struck by lightning! I-I phased naked through the floor. And I terrified Mrs. Johanson. Now I'm probabily gonna have to move. You won't even tell me why are you're here. But will you at least tell me why you're being so mean to me for no reason?"
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
Young Barry trapped in iron

Allen gets stuck in an iron valve.

After Bruce Wayne's rejection, Allen, still upset by the rejection, grabs a rock from the ground and kicks it towards the entrance of Wayne Manor, calling Wayne a Bat-asshole. His older self, believing that they could find Wayne's Batcave, takes Allen far from the manor, finding a valve. Allen is asked by his older self to vibrate inside it, but when trying to do so, he ends up stuck in the middle of the valve, with his older self telling him to concentrate on his molecules and to think about wiggly, jiggly thoughts.[2] After getting more motivation from his older self, Allen finally phases through the valve and opens it, letting his older self enter inside.

Batmobile - The Flash TV Spot

Allen discovers the Batmobile.

Entering inside, the Allens arrive at the massive Batcave, which excites Allen and he begins to run around the place,[1] first going up to a platform and then run to some rocks near a waterfall and then run through the water of the cave to reach a control platform and start singing,[2] and finally running towards another platform, until he almost falls into an abyss. Stopping and noticing that there was something covered by a blanket, Allen uncovers it and discovers the Batmobile, which he remembers seeing in the TV news during his childhood. Near the Batmobile, Allen discovers a peculiar laughing bag and runs to where his older self is to show him his discovery.

Young Allen talks back

Allen talks back to his older self.

Arriving at his older self who was busy using the Bat computer to track Clark Kent, Allen shows him the laughing bag, annoying his older self who asks him if the gravity of Zod's Invasion hadn't sunk in for him, telling him to stop messing around. Allen, in an act of immaturity, calls his older self "mom", which causes him to finally explode in rage and start telling him everything he feels about him without holding back, telling Allen that he has no idea how lucky he really is and that he takes everything for granted and didn't even appreciate things, and that he thinks that he's funny and cool but that he was neither. Allen, furiously responded to him that he had done everything he had asked him to do like getting struck by lightning and that he would probably have to move from his apartment after phasing naked through the floor and traumatizing Mrs. Johanson.

Sleeping young Barry

Allen sleeps on the Batmobile.

When Allen asked his older self why he was so mean to him, the latter took out his stuffed Monkey from his clothes and told him that it was because he used Monkey as a dartboard. Allen would be confused as to why his older self hated him because of playing with a toy but after being told that the monkey was bought by his mom, he admitted that he was annoying and would leave him alone, going to sleep in the Batmobile.[1]

Rescue of Supergirl[]

Barrys look at Batwing

Allen and his older self look at the Batwing in fascination.

After a few hours of nap, Allen would be woken up by his older self who told him that he had discovered that Clark Kent was being held by a mercenary group in a Siberian Black Site. Allen would run to his older self and grab a coffee that was next to him, drinking it. When asking how they would get to Russia, suddenly, the Batwing began to emerge from a huge hole above the Batcave. Allen and his older self walked downstairs until from above, Bruce Wayne, now wearing his Batsuit, told them that he would help them rescue Superman and then leave them on their own. Allen was so shocked of seeing Batman in flesh that he ended up fainting. Upon waking up, he put on his Flash Suit and boarded the Batwing with his two other companions to leave for Siberia.[1]

Young Flash ready to climb

Allen prepares to climb the grapple.

Some hours later, when getting closer to the black site, Allen decided to tell his older self about the rumors that Batman had killed a criminal in front of his son, but the latter corrected him and told him that it was the other way around, but Flash continued to assure him that the rumor was real. Since Batman knew a lot about Time Travel, Allen assumed that maybe he wanted to fix that mistake.[2] Upon arrival, the Batwing's ejector seats with parachutes were activated, to Allen's excitement, and subsequently the three ejected, landing at the outskirts of the black site where Batman fired his grapple gun for Flash to scale it. After everyone was in the black site, Allen and his older self began to explore the site, going down several stairs, surprised that Batman had disappeared from them.

Young Flash scared

Flash looks in fear as a bullet is about to hit his older self.

Upon reaching the bottom, Flash accidentally dropped a shovel which alerted a group of scientists who activated an alarm, sending the mercenaries from the black site who opened fire at them. Flash saw in slow motion how several bullets were heading towards his older self so he moved him abruptly, causing him to vomit. Being surrounded by several soldiers, Batman appeared up on a platform and confronted the soldiers, defeating them.

Young Flash tries all the combinations

Allen after trying all the password combinations.

Flash and his two companions would continue investigating the base until they arrived at a gigantic capsule that Allen called a scrotum. Batman would start hacking the capsule with a Hacking Device but seeing how long it would take, Flash, to speed things up, helped him by pressing all the buttons and making all the possible password combinations, opening the capsule. Upon entering inside, Allen and company would find not Kal-El but an unknown female Kryptonian whom Allen's older self would rescue.

A bullet injures young Flash's leg

Flash's leg is injured by a bullet.

Suddenly, an alarm began to sound inside the capsule so Allen and his companions would begin to escape from the black site until they met an armed scientist whom Flash dispatched by pushing him with both arms quickly. Unfortunately for him, without realizing it, a group of mercenaries had arrived at the zone and opened fire at them, with a bullet passing through Allen's leg. Allen screamed in pain as Batman leaped on top of him and protected him with his cape.

Young Flash in the explosion

Allen holds on tight to the elevator.

The group began to flee by jumping into a chasm and entering through a grate until escaping the black site after placing Sticky Bombs under an elevator. Outside, Flash and company were surrounded by more mercenaries and he attempted to communicate with them in their language until the unknown Kryptonian, after exposing herself to the Sun, began to kill enraged all of the mercenaries along with Batman. Once all of the mercenaries were dispatched, the injured Allen was supported by his older self while the group watched the Kryptonian faint.[1]

Meeting Kara Zor-El[]
"Barry, is it just me or is she getting, like, progresively prettier? [...] Do we love her? We do, we love her. Look at her, Barry. I just feel like I understand all those songs by The Beetles now, like the ones that aren't about Satan, you know? [...] She's like an angel. Well, she's an alien, which is like an angel in science."
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
The Flash Teaser 013

Allen covers Kara with a blanket.

Back at Wayne Manor, Allen and his older self took the unconscious Kryptonian to a table in the mansion and Allen covered her with a blanket. However, Allen would stare at the Kryptonian for a bit before turning to his older self, asking if it was just him or the girl was getting progressively prettier, only to then confess that he was in love with her, telling him that he finally understood all of The Beetles' songs that weren't about Satan. Allen stated that the Kryptonian was like an angel but was actually an alien, which is like an angel in science, all to which his older self was weirded out, telling him that they didn't even know her.[2]

Young Barry and Kara holding hands

Allen helps a weakened Kara stand up.

Allen was then explained by his older self that not all Kryptonians were bad and that there were also good Kryptonians until suddenly, the girl woke up and demanded the Allens reveal who they were to which the two said they were Barry. The Kryptonian revealed her name to be Kara Zor-El and told them about her cousin, Kal-El, and how she was sent to protect him until she saw the news on TV that Dru-Zod and the Sword of Rao had arrived on Earth, so she got alarmed and tried to leave but she was too weak to do so Allen took her up to the roof along with her skinsuit on orders from his other self.

Barry with Supergirl

Allen and Kara chatting.

On the roof, Kara would change into her suit and Allen, seeing it, would ask if she had a cape on, a question that was not answered as Kara had to adjust to her senses. After being hurt by the intense sounds of the planet, Kara would ask Allen if Earth was always so loud, to which Allen replied that if it was loud. and then say that millions of people would die from the Kryptonian Attack but that they would be Allen's people. Allen tried to reason with Kara by telling her that not all humans were bad and that there were good humans like babies, ballerinas and entertainment wrestlers. None of that convinced Kara, who would fly away without first pointing out that she was not human but Kryptonian.

Young Allen overhears the conversation

Allen discovers why his older self went back in time.

After Kara left, Allen would grab a banana from Wayne Manor and go down to the Batcave where he would overhear a conversation between his older self and Wayne talking about their parents, discovering that the reason his older self traveled back in time was because his mom died and that he wouldn't let her die again.[1]

Helping his Older Self[]

"This is going to work, right?"
"Of course it's gonna work. Nothing we haven't done before. Besides this time we have Batman. What could go wrong?"
―Barry Allen and Older Barry[src]
Older Allen gets secured by Young Allen

Allen secures his older self to the Electric Chair.

After Allen's older self and Bruce discussed about how the older Allen could regain his Speed Force powers, the two of them along with Allen began to create an an electric chair in a platform in the Batcave, putting various chemicals on shelves around it, connecting various cables[2] and tying the Bat kite above the chair. After the electric chair was done, Allen would receive the sweater and shirt from his older self while helping him secure himself to the chair. Allen asked him if this would work and his older self assured him that it would since they had Batman on their side.

Young Barry horrified

Allen looks in horror at his seriously injured older self.

Wayne activated the electric chair, causing the Allen's older self to be electrocuted while chemicals were splashed on him. Unfortunately, it had no effect and he did not regain his powers. Allen ran in horror to his older self to help him but he begged him not to get closer and for Wayne to activate the electric chair again but it couldn't be done as the circuits had been fried.

The Flash Teaser 010

Allen tries to help his older self.

Fortunately, from the waterfall of the Batcave, Kara Zor-El had returned, having changed her mind and walking in front of Allen and approaching the electric chair platform, she carried the older Allen in her arms into the storm where he was struck by lightning. Descending back into the Batcave, Kara left the older Allen on the ground while Allen ran towards his older self who was extremely injured. Allen, with his finger, charged a little electricity and touched the finger of his older self only for it to begin to heal, having successfully recovered his powers while Allen celebrated what was happening.

Second Barry suit

Allen creates his own suit.

After leaving him to rest covered up in front of the Bat computer, Allen went to Wayne Manor and grabbed one of Wayne's Batsuits to create a suit for himself, with him sawing off the nose and ears, along with spray painting the suit red, with small lightning bolts on the chest and boot sides. Allen also added yellow and black arrow electrical tape around the waist and forearms along with, his gold headphones, and Knee and Elbow pads.

Young Barry shows his suit to Older Barry

Allen presents his new suit to his older self.

When his older self woke up, Allen asked him how he felt to which Allen jokingly told him that he felt slow and then Allen gave him back his Ring, telling him that it would help him. Allen's older self would put on his Suit instantly while Allen gushed about how irresistible he looked. Allen's older self would notice how now Allen was wearing a new suit and would tell him that it beeves, assuming that the word meant something good to which Allen asked him if he really meant it before Kara approached the Allens and had a conversation with the older Allen, assuring him that she would help them.

Young Allen tells Wayne the team's name

Allen tells Wayne the name of the team.

From above a platform, Wayne, now donning his Batsuit, asked the group if they had a name to which Allen told him they were the Justice League. His older self would correct him by telling him that there were many missing members but that they could use a Batman to which Wayne accepted and joined their group. With Dru-Zod and the Sword of Rao attacking Edwards Air Force Base and the Black Zero being already in the skies of Metropolis, the heroes rushed off to the base, with Allen, his older self, and Batman boarding the Batwing as Supergirl flew after them.[1]

While they went to Edwards Air Force Base, Allen was explained by his older self how things went in his timeline as he recorded Kara with his phone as she was flying outside of the Batwing very close to them. The older Allen would notice Allen's action and stop his explanation to ask him what he was doing, with Allen telling him that their children would want to see this, implying that at some point in the future he wanted to have children with Kara. However, he later corrected himself by saying that he was referring to all the children in the world before Batman warned them that they had arrived.

Young Allen's cowl blocks his vision

Allen suit's cowl blocks his vision.

A missile had been fired at them so Kara flew at it and blew it up, with Batman putting the Batwing into a rotation mode which caused Allen to freak out and start screaming in fear while his older self tried to calm him down. Batman would begin to lower the Batwing and activate the ejector seats. However, as the Allens prepared to eject, Allen turned his head towards his older self, with the cowl of his suit blocking his view, realizing that he could not move his neck in his suit. As the two ejected and landed onto the battlefield with Supergirl, who went to confront Dru-Zod, the Flashes would start to plan tactics to fight the rest of the Sword of Rao.

Young Flash's cheek gets cut

Flash's cheek gets cut by a Kryptonian.

Flash would be told by his older self that he would disarm the Kryptonian soldiers and then he would engage so the two ran towards a Kryptonian separated from the rest. However, after the older Flash took away his Plasma Rifle, the Kryptonian reacted quickly enough and with a knife, he attacked Flash, leaving a deep cut on his cheek. Flash tripped and fell to the ground as the Kryptonian started to approach him to kill him. Before Flash could be killed, his older self intervened in time and vibrated his hand inside the Kryptonian's chest, killing him. With the first plan having failed, the Flash's older self would organize a second plan, as now he would create a cyclonic diversion and Flash would attack.

Second Flash vs kryptonian

Flash jumps to kick a Kryptonian.

By rolling in place many times, the older Flash would create a mini-tornado which engulfed a Kryptonian and disarmed him, and Flash would run and kick him with all his momentum, sending the Kryptonian several meters away, however, he had accumulated too much energy so when he saw another Kryptonian nearby, he carelessly shoot all his energy at him, which sent Flash flying many meters. His older self would run towards him, telling him that what he did was stupid before the two were noticed that they were being surrounded by two Kryptonians who pointed their rifles at them. Tired of continuing to fail, Flash's older self asked him if he was ready to which he yelled "Let's Go!" and the two ran in different directions.

Second Flash on the battle

Flash slides in the ground.

Flash would dodge the plasma shot from a Kryptonian's rifle by jumping and after learning how to carefully shoot electricity from his hands, he would join his fingers to launch an electricity discharge at the Kryptonian's head, breaking his Breather and landing on his knees to then continue running towards another Kryptonian whom he would attack with the strength of his left arm when extending it, sending the Kryptonian upwards. Approaching a large group of Kryptonians that was below a big Kryptonian Dropship, Flash and his older self collided their right and left feet respectively to release a devastating electrical discharge that sent all of the Kryptonians flying, with the two knocking them out on the air and leaving them stunned in the ground.

Young Flash's reaction to Supergirl's death

Flash upon seeing Supergirl dead.

After the Batwing was damaged by a plasma cannon from the big dropship, Flash was ordered by his older self to go look for Kara, which Flash did until unfortunately finding her dead next to two destroyed dropships, having been murdered by Zod, as he looked in sadness and horror and said to himself that this wasn't supposed to happen.[1]

The Inevitable Intersection[]
"It's okay, we can fix this! You know what you're gonna change? I know what I'm gonna change."
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
Young Allen assures Older Allen

Allen assures his older self that they can fix the outcome.

Flash ran back to his older self to notify him of Supergirl's death, who notified him back about Batman's death. Unable to accept the death of his friends, Flash suggested to his older self that they could Time Travel to try again but the older Allen told him that he wasn't fast enough, before running away as fast as he could in the hope of being able to travel back in time while his older self followed behind worriedly. Surprisingly, Flash managed to travel to the Chronobowl and together with his older self, they traveled back in time to the moment in which the two collided their feet to release the electricity discharge. After a bit of doubt, Flash and his older self left the Chronobowl back onto the battlefield to go save their friends, with Flash heading to save Supergirl from Dru-Zod.

Young Flash and Supergirl working together

Flash and Supergirl work together.

Upon arriving and seeing how the latter pushed Supergirl several meters after destroying an helicopter and killing the pilot she was trying to save, Flash proceeded to do a cyclonic diversion of his own, running towards Zod to do hundreds of turns on him. Supergirl, seeing her teammates's action, flew into the tornado and hit Zod. The two began to work together until Zod adapted to the situation and at the same speed as Flash, smashed Supergirl, causing her to collide with Flash, stunning them both. As he recovered from the incident, Flash watched as Zod murdered Supergirl once again and extracted the Growth Codex with Faora-Ul's help.

Young Flash's arm gets pierced by Kryptonian metal

Flash's arm gets pierced by a shard of Nam-Ek's armor.

Flash ran away from the scene to return to his older self, who had a mortally wounded Batman in his arms, who succumbed to his injuries in the next few seconds, and soon asks his older self to get up to travel back in time again. However, an enraged Nam-Ek stood up from behind them and was immediately attacked by Flash as he began to launch electricity discharges at him. His older self tried to tell him to leave but he didn't seem to listen so Flash's older self ran from the place, making Flash believe that he had abandoned him only for him to return and launch a powerful electric discharge at Nam-Ek. Together with their lightning attack, they destroyed Nam-Ek's armor, sending many shards of it shot out towards them. Flash's older self warned him in slow motion to phase but a shard of the armor ended up going through Flash's arm, embedding itself in him.

Faora - UI death

Flash brutally kills Faora.

Flash's older self tried to help him get the armor shard out but Faora-Ul, who had followed Flash, suddenly arrived and pushed them both away. Faora would especially focus on Flash against whom she would take out her knife to kill him but accidentally, Flash hurt Faora's leg with the piece of Kryptonian Metal in his arm. Having discovered her weakness, Flash quickly stabbed Faora in her chest with the armor shard after striking her with it multiple times, ending up killing her with no sign of sympathy, as he was too focused on trying again to save the world and his friends. With the Sub-Commander dead, Flash ran once again to the Chronobowl while his older self followed behind him again.[1]

Becoming the Dark Flash[]

"Barry... not every problem has a solution. Sometimes we just have to let go."
"Let go... of mom?"
"She'll always be alive, somewhere in time. Always. Just not for us."
"You're full of shit, dude..."
"I'm going back."
"YOU'RE GOING BACK TO KILL MOM?! NO! YOU'RE STAYING! You stay, right here... Just give me one more time!"
Older Barry and Barry Allen[src]
Supergirl death

Flash is choked by Zod.

Back at the Chronobowl, Flash would be asked by his older self if they could stop, which Flash interpreted as his other self wanting to rest, so he left the Chronobowl again to save Supergirl, but he arrived too late as Dru-Zod stabbed her again. On his way back to the Chronobowl, Flash would attack a Kryptonian, of which pieces of his armor would pierce and get embedded to Flash's hand. Upon returning, Flash's older self asked him to stop as this was an Inevitable Intersection, but Flash did not listen to him and for two more attempts, he tried to save Supergirl without success, returning the third time with a long shard of Kryptonian Metal on his back.

Young Flash almost attacks Older Allen

Allen almost attacking his older self.

When his older self approached him to beg him to stop, Flash almost attacked him with the armor shards on his arm before regaining his senses, as he was too shaken by Supergirl's deaths at the hands of Zod throughout his many attempts to save her. Allen took off his cowl while his older self would finally tell him what was the reason behind his Time Travel, but Allen told him he already knew since he overheard him in the Batcave that it was because of his mom's death.

Barry yells at Barry

Allen yells furiously at his older self.

Allen's older self began regretting his decision to change the past and reconsiders undoing his actions, but Allen disagrees, claiming what he did wasn't a mistake and insisting they can save their mother as well as the Justice League. Declining Allen's insistence, his older self warns him that what was happening was inevitable and that the world would die today regardless of no matter how hard they try. As his older self shows him the growing tears in the Chronobowl around them from all the damage they were causing, Allen refused to accept the fate of his world, darkly proclaiming himself as The Flash and saying that he could save everyone so that nobody would have to die.

Young Barry remembers

Allen remembers Nora's words.

Allen's older self soon reminds him of what his mother had told him during his childhood: "Not every problem has a solution. Sometimes we just have to let go". Those words made Allen remember the day he was doing his math homework and Nora gave him that advice, and when his older self finally revealed his intentions to go back and fix his mistake, Allen felt betrayed and angrily tells him not to, forcibly begging him to stay at the Chronobowl while he continues trying to save Supergirl.[1]

Allen would leave the Chronobowl once again and continue his endless cycle for forty years. During all that time, Allen accumulated more and more shards of Kryptonian metal in his body after attacking different Kryptonian soldiers to the point that he began to take on a monstrous form. Furthermore, his rays stopped being light blue and turned purple apart from the fact that he no longer needed to consume calories to maintain his speed. Thus little by little, Allen began to become a monster until he became unrecognizable. He was no longer the Flash but the Dark Flash.[3]

Battle at the Chronobowl[]

"That scar, you... Oh my god... So, you're... You are..."
"Yes, I am... you."
―Barry Allen and Dark Flash[src]
Dark Flash 4

Allen facing Zod in the background.

The Dark Flash would travel back in time to the day the older Allen created the Flashpoint Timeline, pushing him out of the Chronobowl back to September 29, 2013 to ensure his existence and then returning to the moment he was going to exit the Chronobowl for the sixth time to intercept and attack the older Allen. Meanwhile, Allen instead went to rescue Supergirl once again and managed to deliver a powerful electric discharge on Dru-Zod, sending him back a bit, but Zod would get up again and stab Supergirl again, killing her.

Young Allen shoots at Dark Flash

Allen shoots a electricty discharge at Dark Flash.

With his sixth failure in a row now, Allen returned to the Chronobowl only to find his older self charging an electricity discharge at a dark speedster. His older self told him to run away while containing the dark speedster, but Allen did not sit idly by as he helped his older self instead by attacking the dark speedster with a electricity discharge, breaking some of the metal that was covering his face.

Young Allen looks at the Multiversal collapse

Allen looks at the Multiversal collapse.

When enough metal came off, Allen noticed how the dark speedster had a similar scar on his cheek and he immediately assumed in horror that he was him but after many years of trying to win the battle, which was true. Suddenly, several universes across the Multiverse began to collide with each other upon entering the Chronobowl, due to Allen's immeasurable attempts.

Barry stabbed

Allen sacrifices himself for his older self.

The Dark Flash would tell Allen's older self how he was close to finding the solution to winning the battle while revealing that he was the one who pushed him out of the Chronobowl. Knowing that the older Allen would travel back in time to fix his mistake, the Dark Flash decided to kill him but just as he was going to stab him with the Kryptonian metal in his arm, Allen, who accepted the fate of his world, decided to sacrifice himself and got in the way, receiving the attack instead, leaving him mortally wounded.

Young Barry dies

Allen succumbs to his mortal wound.

Allen was held in the arms of his older self as the Dark Flash was erased from existence, refusing to heal from his injuries to make sure their dark self ceased to exist. In his last moments, Allen took the stuffed Monkey that he always used as a dartboard out of his suit and asked his other self to tell mom that he loved her, before dying.[1]

Legacy[]

Multiverse's Salvation[]

"You tell mom I love her."
―Barry Allen's last words to Older Barry[src]
Flashpoint Timeline's last

Allen's corpse is erased from existence.

Allen's older self mourned his death as the collisions from all the other universes were reverted, meaning that his sacrifice was not in vain as it ended up saving the entire Multiverse from being destroyed. Allen stood up and stored Monkey in the storage compartment in his suit before preparing to travel back in time to return the can of tomatoes to his place, erasing Allen's corpse from existence.

Barry finds his mother

Allen's older self fullfills his last wish.

Fulfilling Allen's last words, the older Allen had one last emotional encounter with his mother, telling her that he loved her. Allen's older self later fixed his mistake, erasing the Flashpoint Timeline from existence but at the same time, creating a new timeline by changing the tomato cans' location, allowing his father's face to be visible on a security camera and proving his innocence.[1]

Personality[]

"You take everything for granted! You don't even appreciate! You just walk around thinking that you're so funny and so cool! And it's embarrasing because you're not any of those things!"
Older Barry to Barry Allen[src]

This Barry Allen is far less intelligent, intuitive, and mature than his Earth-1 counterpart. That is because, in addition to being 10 years younger than his counterpart, he grew up without experiencing any hardships. With his mother never dying nor his father unjustly going to jail for years, Barry never developed the desire or motivation to succeed in any real goals. He jokes around constantly, seldom taking anything seriously. This annoyed and angered Earth-1 Barry, who accuses him of taking his happy life for granted.

He also is very scatterbrained and unfocused, even before gaining his powers, so he often impulsively tries new things without listening to Earth-1 Barry's full explanations. He also develops crushes quicker than Earth-1 Barry, shown when he took pictures of a flying Supergirl, and daydreamed out loud about having children with her.

He is also a bit of a coward: getting superpowers sounded cool to Barry, but he refused to get hit by lightning first. Similarly, he is initially terrified of Nam-Ek and Faora. However, Earth-1 Barry's guidance helps him slowly learn to become braver.

Like Earth-1 Barry, this Barry also idolizes Batman.

Growing up with less tragedy also made this Barry more susceptible to corruption, since he is so broken at not being able to save Batman and Supergirl or stop General Zod, that he originally becomes the ruthless Dark Flash. Even when he kills Faora in cold blood at one attempt, he does not show any sympathy or emotion for her as he was too focused on trying to defeat Zod and save Batman and Supergirl again. However, in the newest timeline, Barry is shocked by the appearance of his evil future counterpart as well as horrified by his dark fate, and sacrifices himself to erase Dark Flash from existence and save his Earth-1 self.

Barry is compassionate and caring - as he is understanding of his Earth-1 self despite his initial harsh behavior, and was desperate to save him when Earth-1 Barry burned himself twice in initially failed attempts to regain his powers. It is also what inevitably lead a version of him to become Dark Flash, due to his desperation to save Supergirl and Batman.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

"Holy speedballs."
―Barry Allen[src]
  • Young Barry runs through Central City

    Allen using his superspeed.

Speed Force Conduit: Barry Allen, after being struck by lightning and doused in nearby chemicals, gained a metahuman connection to the Speed Force, an extra-dimensional energy field, granting him many speed-based superhuman abilities, as the Flash.
    • Superhuman Speed: Flash is capable of moving at tremendous hypersonic speeds, an ability so powerful that his movements are invisible to the naked eye. However, he is a bit slower than his more experienced older self, who quickly catches up to him. Flash ran around his room many times in less than a second, effortlessly dodged all of Bruce Wayne's attacks, saved his depowered older self from bullets, and even dodged many attacks from Dru-Zod, Faora-Ul, and Nam-Ek. This shows that Flash is faster than super-powered Kryptonians, though not by much, since Faora and another Kryptonian did manage to hit him a few times, albeit Flash may not have been using his full speed. At his fastest moments, Flash is able to force himself to move beyond the speed of light in order to go back in time, such as when he tried numerous times to undo the deaths of Batman and Supergirl. In addition, the intensity of the Flash's speed allows him to deliver superhumanly strong attacks (enough to even make Kryptonians stumble, and break through their Breathers), as well as to run along vertical surfaces, across the surface of water, through solid matter, into other dimensions of the Multiverse, and even through time itself.
      • Tornado Generation: By running in circles in super-speed, Flash can generate a tornado, charged with Speed Force lightning. This can take the form of a wider vortex.
    • Superhuman Metabolism: Because of Flash's accelerated metabolism, he burns calories at an accelerated rate, keeping his body slim and fit, so this requires him to intake a very high amount of calories to function normally.
      • Regenerative Healing Factor: Flash's speed extends to him on a biological level, and thus, his metabolism functions faster than that of humans, which allows him to heal any injuries (as long as they aren't lethal) within a short time frame. Hence, Flash required only a few minutes to heal from getting shot in the leg by a Siberian Mercenary.
      • Enhanced Taste: Flash's boosted metabolism also makes food taste more intense to him than before.
    • Young Barry dodges the frying pan

      Allen's reflexes in display.

Superhuman Reflexes: Flash possesses reflexes far greater than those of a human. This allows him to easily react to danger and events and perceive the world in slow motion. His reflexes are faster than normal people can even perceive. Hence, Allen was able to easily dodge the knives and frying pans thrown at him by Wayne, with it appearing to be moving at him in slow motion, and Bruce himself almost frozen in place from Allen's perspective. Later, when his older self regains his powers, Flash's reflexes see him moving normally, while the soldiers around them are almost frozen. However, Supergirl, Zod and Faora are shown to be capable of moving at a similar speed, able to nearly match Flash on several occasions, and outpace him on others.
      • Accelerated Perception: This allows Flash to easily react to danger and events and perceive the world in slow motion.
    • Superhuman Momentum: While moving at an accelerated speed, Flash generates superhuman levels of momentum, which allows him to enhance the force behind his attacks, impacts, and collisions, often propelling people and objects several feet, which Flash uses to compensate for his otherwise average physical strength. When holding onto non-speedsters as he moves, Flash has to carefully hold them in certain ways, to prevent them from getting whiplash. Hence, due to Flash being inexperienced at that, when he moves around while holding his depowered older self, the latter vomits from whiplash multiple times. After some training from his older self though, Flash gains more control, and is able to send some Kryptonians flying a few feet after he collides with them at superspeed, and he manages to break through some of their breathers with superspeed punches.
      • Momentum Negation: Flash also can come to a full stop, despite the extreme inertia of his movements, such as when he stopped in a street, causing a traffic jam.
    • Superhuman Agility: Flash, after some training from his older self, is able to coordinate his body enough to navigate while moving at superhuman speed. Thus, Flash managed to dodge most of the attacks from Nam-Ek and Faora. This coordination, however, isn't an intuitive trait, as Allen was still initially a bit clumsy, sometimes tripping over himself mid-run.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Flash's body can handle the stress of moving at superhuman speeds for extended periods without getting tired or weak, so long as he's not running on an empty stomach.
    • Superhuman Durability: Flash, while moving at superspeed, is capable of resisting tremendous kinetic impact forces that could easily crush or kill a human, without suffering any serious external or internal injuries. However, if he stands still, he is no more durable than a human, hence Barry's leg was injured by a bullet.
    • Intangibility: Flash can phase himself through solid objects by vibrating his molecules at super speed. After getting his powers, he accidentally vibrated naked through the floor, traumatizing Mrs. Johanson. After some training from his older self, he gains more control over this ability, managing to phase into the Batcave.
    • Time-Travel: Flash can run fast enough to break through the fabric of the space-time continuum, enabling him to travel forward or back in time, to monitor or alter past events. Flash notably went back in time numerous times to the Chronobowl when he failed to prevent Batman and Supergirl's deaths.
    • Second Flash fights

Flash shoots lightning to a Kryptonian.

Electricity Generation: While moving at incredible speeds, Flash generates powerful bolts of electricity which can cause nearby technology to short-circuit or overload. Flash's lightning is powerful enough to make the Dark Flash, Nam-Ek and several other Kryptonians pause and stumble. Interestingly, Barry's lightning coloration changes dependent on whether he wears his older self's Micro Compression Suit - his lightning is sapphire blue without it, and golden yellow with it.

Abilities[]

  • Gifted Intellect: Allen, despite being far less intelligent than his older self, still has the same mental potential. So, he eventually understood his older self's instructions on how to use his Speed Force powers.
"I'm a green belt in the capoeira and I have extensively studied wrestler and I could just go frickin' lunatic on you."
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
  • Combatant: While he had a green belt in capoeira, Allen was clumsier than his older self. He eventually learned to effectively use his speed and momentum in combat. Flash was able to dodge multiple attacks from Nam-Ek and Faora-Ul, but he still needed this older self's help to fight them. Eventually, the Flashes manage to coordinate their lightning and punches enough to take down multiple Kryptonians - first stunning them, and then punching through their Breathers.

Weaknesses[]

"Barry, it's like I've never eaten anything before."
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
  • Insufficient Nutrition: Flash's accelerated metabolism forces him to eat and drink and huge amounts of food every so often. If he consumes less, his speed and reflexes will begin to falter.

Equipment[]

Weapons[]

  • Young Allen in a defensive stance

The Kryptonian metal shards on Allen's body.

Kryptonian Metal Shards: Flash's arm was pierced with a shard of Nam-Ek's armor, which remained stuck to it. As the Kryptonian metal was capable of piercing Kryptonian skin, Flash would use this shard and others that would later remain stuck to his body to attack and kill them without difficulty, such as Faora-Ul.

Other Equipment[]

"I-I made it out of that old Batsuit. But you know, I made it our colors and everything. Well, check this out. It's a bit more loose."
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
  • Young Flash reacts to Older Flash's plan

    Flash wearing the Modified batsuit.

Bat-Flash Suit[3]: Flash wore a scarlet-colored protective suit, although unlike his older self's suit, this one is a Batsuit which was converted into a Flash suit: spray-painted red with a lightning bolt atop the Bat symbol. Due to the suit not being designed for speedsters, it holds on to the electric charge he produces by running, and is susceptible to warping. The older Allen reminds him to take breaks, to avoid building up too much charge in the suit.
"So, you're mad at me for playing with a toy?"
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
  • Monkey: Barry Allen's hated stuffed monkey, which he uses as a dartboard in his room. He treats it like trash, being surprised that his older self holds a lot of respect to it. In his last moments of life, Allen gave the stuffed monkey to his older self, which he stored in his suit, making it the only item from the Flashpoint Timeline that wasn't erased from existence.
  • Phone: Allen owned a phone. When his older self was looking for Arthur Curry and found his father's number, he asked Allen for his phone so he could call him. Later, when he and the Justice League were going to Edwards Air Force Base, inside the Batwing, Allen recorded Kara Zor-El with his phone.
  • Headphones: Allen would connect these headphones to his phone to hear music and would keep it with him for most of the adventure. When he had to make his own suit, Allen used the headphones to mimic the yellow wings that the cowl of his older self's suit had.

Former Equipment[]

"Tigh. It hurts. You know where it hurts? In my dick."
―Barry Allen to Older Barry[src]
  • Young Allen wearing the micro compression suit

Allen wearing the Micro compression suit.

Micro Compression Suit: Allen borrowed his older self's suit to train his new powers. However, he calls it too tight and uncomfortable. The suit has golden paneling on the boots of the suit with lightning styled braces around the forearms, helmet wings, emblem, and belt. The piping although glows yellow when Flash actively uses his Speed Force abilities, with the suit causing his normal blue lightning to glow yellow instead. The suit was worn by Flash to protect him from the immense friction encountered when he runs, as well as being overall resistant to extreme temperatures. After his older self regained his powers, Allen gave him back the suit after creating a new one for himself.
"So the suit is inside the ring?"
"Yes."
"What? And I can have this?"
"No, you can't have it. You can borrow it so you don't kill yourself using your powers."
―Barry Allen and Older Barry[src]
  • Flash ring 1

    Allen with the Flash Ring.

Flash Ring: Allen borrowed his older self's ring while training his new powers, which was designed for him by the Alfred Pennyworth from the original timeline. Inside it, the micro compression suit was stored. After his older self regained his powers, Allen gave him back the ring.

Vehicles[]

"I used to see this on the news when I was a kid!"
―Barry Allen[src]
  • The Flash Trailer 051

Flash on the Batwing's ejector seats.

Batmobile: Allen saw the Batmobile for the first time when he was two years old in the TV news. In the Batcave, when he got sleepy, Allen opened the Batmobile's cockpit and slept in the back seats.
  • Batwing: Allen sat in the backseats of the Batwing alongside his older self as it was driven by Batman to the Siberian Black Site and Edwards Air Force Base where he would eject them from the seats, the first time using a parachute and the second time by jumping straight into the battlefield.

Trivia[]

  • Like his older self, Allen is a fan of the Back to the Future series and praises Eric Stoltz performance in the movies.
  • At the age of 18, Allen still doesn't do his laundry as his mom does it for him.
  • Barry has two rooms, one on his own apartment which he shares with Albert Desmond, Patty Spivot and Gary, and one on his parents residence.
  • As he never lost his parents, Allen studies economy instead of criminal law.
  • Allen's favorite cereal is Crunch-A-Bunch.
  • Allen's clothing color during the film, which is yellow, could be a reference to the Reverse-Flash, as at the end, he ends up becoming a evil version of the Flash.
  • Although he is the second most recurring character in the film, the young Flash appeared in less promotional images of the film than his friends, being absent from the two main posters and not having his own character poster like the other three members of the Justice League, with the closest thing to that being this image.
  • Hot Toys was producing a lifelike figure of Young Barry but "due to unforeseen market alternation", it was cancelled.[4]
