- "And now you're the one in my way, no matter how close I get to winning this fight, you go back and let mom die. You're the Inevitable Intersection. And you do have to let go. You are my hero."
- ―Dark Flash to Barry Allen[src]
Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen was a future version of Barry Allen after many repeated attempts to prevent the death of his Justice League friends at the hands of General Zod, transforming into a dark menacing being named Dark Flash. Barry received his powers from his Earth-1 counterpart, and reveals that he purposefully pushed Earth-1 Barry out of the Speed Force to ensure his creation. He waits patiently inside the Speed Force until Earth-1 Barry and his past self enter the Chronobowl, where his past self starts resetting the timeline over and over in the hopes of saving Supergirl and Batman, starting the loop that will transform him into Dark Flash. Dark Flash reveals to Earth-1 Barry and his past counterpart that he is his future self, and has figured out that killing Earth-1 Barry will allow him to finally save them and win the fight against Zod. However, his past version realizes this and sacrifices himself to save Earth-1 Barry, which leads to him being erased from existence.
Biography[]
Battle at Edwards Air Force Base[]
Becoming Dark Flash[]
After the death of the Justice League during the Battle at Edwards Air Force Base at the hands of Dru-Zod and the Sword of Rao, Barry emerged as an alternate version of himself, making thousands of attempts inside the Chronobowl to save his friends, but everytime he traveled to the past, he was nailed by several fragments of the suits of the members of the Sword of Rao, causing him to deform along with his suit, taking on a monstrous appearance and reaching old age after his failed attempts, putting the Multiverse at risk.[1]
Attacking his Future Self[]
- "It's not entirely your fault, Barry. I pushed you out of the Chronobowl on that September 29th so you could start me on this path. How do you like our endless paradox? I made you create me."
- ―Dark Flash to Flash[src]

Dark Flash torments his alternate self through his dreams.
The Dark Flash began tracking his alternate self after the latter traveled to the past to prevent the death of his mother, Nora Allen, thus creating the Flashpoint. Dark Flash surprised the older Flash inside the Chronobowl, confusing him with the situation. Dark Flash avoided having the older Barry return to the future, pushing him out of the Chronobowl and sending him to an alternate 2013, watching him as the portal closed, forcing him to meet a younger Barry and help him get his powers, meaning that the young Barry's future as Dark Flash was beginning.
A few days later, he would torment the older Barry through a brief dream.[1]
Battle at the Chronobowl[]
- "I've lived...more than you can dream."
- ―Dark Flash to Barry Allen[src]
Dark Flash tortures his alternate self.
Just as the young Barry makes another attempt to save the Justice League in the Battle at Edwards Air Force Base, Dark Flash returned to the Chronobowl, stopping the older Barry, which he throttles to the ground, before beginning to torture him with his lightning while the Multiverse was beginning to gather into Earth-1's Chronobowl. After finishing the torture and letting him go, Dark Flash answered the older Barry who asked who he was, that he has lived longer than he imagines. As Barry distracts him when he begins to charge up an electrical attack, both Flashes entered into a brief battle until the younger Barry came into action, discovering that Dark Flash had the same scar as him, revealing himself to be his shadowy future version.

Dark Flash reveals his origin to Barry.
Barry kindly tried to ask his counterpart for help to join and save the others, but when he refused, the three Barrys watched in surprise as several universes began to collide due to their alterations in the timeline, the older Barry asked him to stop putting risk to many worlds, however, Barry flatly and angrily refused until he saved the League and his world. As he ensured the older Barry it wasn't entirely his fault, Barry revealed to him that he pushed him out of the Chronobowl on September 29, 2013 to make sure of the young Barry's start on his dark path, mocking about their endless paradox and how he forced him to create him.

Dark Flash begins to be erased from existence after accidentally stabbing his past self.
Barry then mentioned that no matter how close he was to winning the Battle at Edwards Air Force Base, the older Barry would return to the past to let Nora die, and then blames him for now being the inevitable intersection, asking him to let go of his grief for Nora and stating that he was his hero, before charging a final attack with his arm to finally kill him. However, in a desperate attempt, his past self avoided the death of the older Barry, being stabbed by the Dark Flash, causing him to be erased from existence because the younger Barry would never become him. After the death of both, the older Barry created a new timeline.[1]
Personality[]
Dark Flash is compassionate but also ruthless. Compassionate as his true goal was only to save Supergirl and Batman, but ruthless as he was angry at Earth-1 Barry's inaction to help him try and find a way around the fixed point and his willingness to let Nora die. This is what drives Dark Flash to try to kill Barry.

- Superhuman Speed: Like all speedsters, the Dark Flash is capable of moving at tremendous hypersonic speeds, an ability so powerful that his movements are invisible to the naked eye.
- Self-Sustenance: Dark Flash has a unique connection to the Speed Force. Abilities[]
- Inteligence: Due to having reversed the timeline several times, Barry gained more knowledge, becoming a more intelligent being as he tried to figure out how to save the Justice League from their inevitable death and discovering where his alternate counterpart was located within the Chronobowl.
Equipment[]
- Dark Flash Suit: Dark Flash's suit is a Batsuit that was spray-painted to serve as a Flash suit. However, due to the fact the Batsuit cannot dissipate his charge build-up, it has become warped and fused with various pieces of suits of members from the Sword of Rao after Barry's countless timeline resets, giving off a demonic appearance.

Trivia[]
- Dark Flash was first revealed as part of The Flash merchandise, appearing in a character package.[2]
- In the Battle at the Chronobowl, Dark Flash claimed he pushed older Barry out of the Chronobowl to create himself and has tried to save Batman and Supergirl then tried to kill older Barry so he wouldn't be in the way. That must mean Dark Flash must have killed his older self because he is nowhere to be seen and he would've stopped his younger self from trying to change the timeline; his younger self must have murdered him so he is not there to stop him.
Behind the Scenes[]
- In the comics, Dark Flash is a version of Wally West called Walter West, from an alternate timeline where he was unable to save Linda Park from death at Kobra's hands.
- Dark Flash's physical appearance as well as his suit resembles that of Black Flash, an entity of death for speedsters in DC comics. The book The Flash: The Official Visual Companion confirms that the character was used as inspiration for the visual design.
