- "Falcone's idiot kid decided to try to play in the big leagues. He put a crew together and broke into the lab at Gotham General. Stole a highly deadly virus. I intercepted them but they blasted their way out. You can handle the hospital Barry. Somebody has to save the rest of the world so i was gonna do that. If you don't mind."
- ―Batman to Flash[src]
The Chase of Al Falcone was a long chase to capture Alberto Falcone and his crew of mercenaries, who stole a deadly virus from the Gotham General Hospital, causing the hospital's destruction, although many people were rescued by Flash while the Justice League arrested Al after intercepting him on the Gotham City bridge.
Background[]
- "We have a situation at Gotham General. A robbery gone wrong."
"This is the middle of the morning. Why is our bat-friend even awake? Call Superman!" - ―Alfred Pennyworth and Barry Allen.[src]
Al Falcone, son of crime lord Carmine Falcone, started to assemble a crew of mercenaries to attack the Gotham City General Hospital and steal a highly deadly virus with the intention of raising his own reputation without the shadow of his father. After the robbery, Al and his crew escaped on a car, at the same time Batman became aware of the attack and with the help of Alfred Pennyworth attempted to contact any available members of the Justice League for support. However, because Superman was busy saving Guatemala from an erupting volcano and Wonder Woman did not pick up his call, Alfred called Barry Allen, who was ordering a breakfast for him at Filby's Café.

Rescue at Gotham General Hospital[]
- "If my calculations are correct, and history will prove they usually are, the foundational damage is about to cause the collapse of the east wing."
"East wing's fine. Which is good because my speed is lagging. Running on empty, Alfred." - ―Alfred Pennyworth and Flash[src]
Barry Allen, despite being late for work, agreed to help and quickly put on his Flash Suit, racing towards Gotham City while Batman boarded the Flying Fox to catch up with Falcone and his crew. When Flash arrived, he observed the Gotham General Hospital following an apparent detonation during the robbery. At the same time, Batman left the Flying Fox and, driving his Batcycle, began chasing Falcone through the streets in broad daylight while he explained his mission to Flash. Immediately afterwards, the speedster cut off his communication with Batman and set out to rescue as many people as possible from the collapsing hospital.
After rescuing a nurse from a sinkhole, Alfred informed him that there was a rupture of gas and water pipes in the basement, so Flash rushed there to fix it. On the 30th floor, a nurse desperately tried to leave a room with several newborns, but the door would not open and the glass slowly began to crack. While fixing the rupturing problem, Flash complained to Alfred about being the janitor of the Justice League, which he claimed he had already accepted. He then returned outside when Alfred informed him that scans indicated that the east wing of the hospital would soon collapse, although Flash assured him that the area was not in danger, much to his satisfaction given how little energy he had left to run.
Suddenly, the hospital began to collapse in on itself, causing the babies and the nurse to fall from the 30th floor into the void, so Flash quickly activated his super speed to run along the walls while watching everything in slow motion. Due to his low energy, Flash began to go slower and, when he saw a vending machine, he proceeded to smash it and eat as much as he could, bringing his energy back to its peak in seconds. Immediately afterwards, he set out to save the babies; He began by grabbing and throwing a utensil towards a bottle of acid so it wouldn't soak one of the babies before protecting the baby in a microwave from being incinerated by a fire-breathing gallon.
Flash then turned the key from the gallon for it to block some knives that were about to fall on a baby and also hit the drawer that was about to crush another. After getting all the babies safe, the speedster took a stretcher out of the air to place all the babies and get down safely, while he held the nurse on his shoulders and rescued a therapy dog that was also falling. While deactivating his speed, Flash fled the destruction with the stretcher, successfully rescuing everyone. After returning the babies to the nurse, Flash suggested her to seek for the services of a mental health professional after the recent traumatic experience, before leaving the place in search of Batman.
Capture of Al Falcone[]
- "My ego's far too big to say "thank you" to someone else... I developed this all-powerful persona to compensate for my childhood trauma."
"The Lasso of Truth... never gets old."
"I'd do a lot better just giving all my money away. Yes, if I really wanted to end crime, I should end poverty." - ―Batman and Wonder Woman.[src]
Concurrently, in the distance, Batman continued chasing Al Falcone and his crew aboard his Batcycle; when the path was being blocked by a pedestrian passing by schoolchildren, Batman immediately released a retractable spike chain, forcing Falcone to change direction while the group of children watched Batman in surprise. As the chase intensified, a unit of police vehicles from the Gotham City Police Department intervened and attempted to assist, but one of the mercenaries shot through the window of one of the vehicles, causing the car to crash and be thrown into the air. only to collide with the second police car and block the track; Batman managed to get under the car in time.

Now on the Gotham Bridge, one of the mercenaries shot at a tanker truck, causing it to overturn and explode in front of Batman, who was ejected from his motorcycle. Using his cape as a glider, Batman pulled out his Grapple Gun to latch onto Al's vehicle as he was dragged across the bridge. Atop the vehicle, Batman began taking down Falcone's crew one by one, including the driver and the mercenaries. The vehicle soon left the bridge and fell into the sea; Fortunately, Batman used his gun to hang onto the edge while he held Al, who had the briefcase full of chemicals handcuffed to his hand. Desperate, Alfred Pennyworth informed him that if the briefcase fell into the ocean, it would wipe out half of Gotham by lunchtime.
On the verge of the gun's hook detaching from the rope, and consequently, Batman and Al falling into the ocean, Wonder Woman surprisingly appeared in time using her Lasso of Truth to save them both and lift them back to the bridge. Right after, Flash arrived after saving the babies. Subjected to the lasso, Batman began to express personal feelings to Wonder Woman, before Flash attempted to help him and was also subdued, revealing that he was a virgin. Wonder Woman said goodbye and flew away, only for Flash to also return to Central City claiming to be late for work. After they both left the scene, Al attempted to run away from behind Batman, who threw a Batarang at him, eventually knocking him out.
Aftermath[]
- "So, you're saying that you went back in time? Like in Pozharnov?"
"Yeah, like in Pozharnov , except, but Pozharnov was a second. This time i went back a whole day." - ―Bruce Wayne and Barry Allen[src]
Due to his involvement, Barry Allen arrived late to his job at the Central City Research Center, putting himself in danger of being fired due to his other tardiness. After an encounter with his old college friend, Iris West, who began asking him questions about his father's upcoming appeal trial, Barry began to remember the death of his mother. Overwhelmed by his feelings, he ran to try to go back in time, unexpectedly accessing to the Chronobowl through the Speed Force. There, he discovered being able to go back and interact with events from his past, such as the rescue of the babies from the Gotham General Hospital.
