Black Canary is a canceled superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name. It was to be a spin-off of Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), and an installment of the DC Extended Universe produced at HBO Max.

On August 20, 2021, Collider reposted news about a Black Canary movie written by Misha Green and produced by Sue Kroll with Jurnee Smollett returning as Dinah Lance/Black Canary.[1] Later that day, Misha Green confirmed her and Smollett's involvement in the project.[2]
On August 9, 2022, in the wake of the cancellation of the Batgirl film, TVLine reported that a spokesperson for Warner Brothers had confirmed that the project was still in active development for HBO Max.[3]
On January 31, 2023, James Gunn announced the reboot of the film franchise, burying the possibility that the project would continue in the DC Extended Universe.[4]
