Doctor Fate[]
The tie-in starts with an narration to the introduction to the Tower of Fate by Doctor Fate. He is shown mediating and says that the Tower has been his sanctuary for many lifetimes, and that only here can he rest. He reminisces of his time when he found refuge in a band of heroes, champions united by a common cause, who called themselves The Justice Society. He adds that for one glorious moment ,he felt as he belonged somewhere other than this sanctuary, but reminds himself that those days are long gone and they are never coming back. He then questions himself of why then is he haunted by the memories he once led, his trials and hardships, his friends and teammates, his companionship. He reminisces that they were a balm for him and that everytime he donned that helmet, they made it all worthwhile, when he joined with Nabu, a being as old as the universe itself, when he became Dr Fate. But he reminds himself that the past is gone, and that it is finished. While he is mediating, he is suddenly shaken and disturbed by a otherworldly voice which breaks his trance. He then dons the helmet to find some answers.
Somewhere else, Carrie and Dexter are wandering around in a forest looking for a house. Upon seeing the house, Dexter remarks that the house something out of a horror movie, when suddenly one of their friends, Renee, who was hiding in the bushes jumps on Dexter and scares him. Just then Carrie remarks that Kevin ,their friend ,has already reached inside and clearly a pile of wooden slabs. Turns out they are looking for the skeletal remains of a witch who can speak to the dead and they have found the ritual online. Carrie starts reading the ritual and a whirlpool of bright red light rushes them. Scared they try to run away wherein they are stopped by Dr Fate. He asks them why should he let them go since they have raised a demon to which they reply that they are kids and that they didn't know and promise to not do to again.
Carrie replies that her friends are pathetic and that they are throwing away power by listening to the man in the shiny mask. When Dexter says that because it's wrong, Carrie violently throws away Dexter. Dr Fate then challenges Carrie to show her face to him. Carrie states that he would like that wouldn't he or that should she call him by his real name. We are then revealed to Carrie as she been transformed into this hellish creature with fang like teeth and nails, red eyes ,broken skin and scalp with a slightly bigger head and forehead. The demon who has possessed Carrie then calls Dr Fate by his many names which are Nabu The Wise, Nabu The Craven and Nabu The Forsaken.
A mystical and magical battle then ensues in which the demon throws a bunch of hellish spheres at Fate which he blocks with his shield. The boys try to run away but the demon raises a fire in her hands and blocks their exit. They asks Fate for help. He strikes a magical lightning at them which doesn't harm them but breaks the trees that were blocking their path. They question him on his methods but forsake that and run away but not for Dexter who tries to stop them but can't. The demon then unleashes a mighty shockwave and a consecutive fire beam straight at Fate all while insulting Nabu and Nelson.
Nelson again blocks it with his shield ,seeing this the demon summons hell fire from the ground. Nelson then then tries to think ways to break the connection between the demon and hell. He realises that by destroying the skeletal remains of the witch ,he can send the demon back to hell. While Nelson is distracted, the demon remarks on whether this is easy and sends a powerfull soundwave. The soundwave released removes the helmet from Nelson's head and his connection to Nabu is broken. Nelson in his oldage is unable to get up and don the helmet and cries Nabu for the connection. The demon then appears himself through the summoned hellfire and starts speaking directly to Fate through a fireish silhouette. He establishes a stronger connection to Carrie and chastises both Nelson and Nabu and their sacrifice and suffering allwhile projecting tentacles from Carrie's mouth and trapping Nelson ,now without his helmet but in his Dr Fate attire. The demon from hell then uses one of the tentacles from Carrie's mouth on Nelson's mind. Nelson then releases a agonizing scream while a future is shown to him where Atom Smasher, Hawkman, Cyclone and himself lay bare dead and Black Adam behind them on a throne, comets and metroites falling from the sky, hellfire in the distance and the demon Sabbac in the background smiling. The demon questions on Nelson's trails and tribulations and demands answers from Kent. Kent lets out a smug smile. The demon annoyed and confused asks how can he laugh when all is lost. Nelson replies that though in his oldage he can neither defend himself nor protect Earth but when he dons the helmet he is unstoppable ,he is vengeance incarnate and that the demon has taken his eye of the 'ball'. Just then the demon realises that the helmet is not in his grasp but in his hands of Dexter. The demon threatens Dexter that he will feast on his soul if he doesn't give the helmet. Dexter doesn't heed to his threats and throws the helmet to Nelson. Nelson replies that he owes Dexter and dons helmet. He then frees himself from the demon possessed Carrie's tentacles and brings a mighty lightning from the sky and breaks and crushes the skeletal remains of the witch. The connection and grasp on Carrie broken, the demon is then sent back ,straight to, hell.
Dexter then runs for Carrie aids. He checks on her asks Fate to save her. Fate replies that they summoned and received a demon and that justice is balanced. Shaken by the response, Dexter admits on their mistake but says that he could have ran when the demon was influencing Nelson's mind but didn't and instead gave the helmet to him and that counts for something. He then questions Fate on whether he should have helped him. Fate uses his ankh magic to bring Carrie back to life while saying that he did the right thing on saving him. Dexter thankfully replies to Kent to which Kent replies thanks to Dexter for reminding himself why he has fought for long and for he is and was.
Fate then retreats to the Tower of Fate, his mediation words echoing in his head. He removes the helmet and calls Carter. Carter surprised asks him whether it's really him and that he was just about to call Kent. Kent replies on Carter's reformation of the Justice Society. Carter gives a affirmation to the statement and asks how he know this but ignores that question. He then is about to ask another question but is abruptly interrupted by Fate who asks on Carter's question on whether Kent will join the Justice Society. Kent then replies to his own question saying he will which will be for the upcoming and Carter's sake.
