Bialya, also known as the Bialyan Dynasty, was an ancient kingdom that was situated in the lands of modern-day Egypt.

History[]

Chaos of the Wishes[]

In ancient times, Bialya was an empire in northern Africa that, according to Said Bin Abydos, was the home of his ancestors, referred to as the Bialyan Dynasty.[1]

In 1984, oil tycoon Maxwell Lord journeyed to Egypt in an attempt to purchase oil land from Emir Said Bin Abydos in an effort to increase his oil supply. As a result of their exchange, a divine wall sprung forth, restoring the Bialyan borders and isolating the new Bialya from the rest of Egypt, preventing many Egyptians access to fresh water.

The presence of the Bialyan Wall triggered confusion and new hostilities between the United States and Soviet Union. Abydos later renounced his wish, causing the wall to crumble and provoking the end of Bialya once again.[2]

Behind the Scenes[]

  • In the DC comics, Bialya is a fictional country located in the Middle East north of Iran and Saudi Arabia. It made its first appearance in Justice League #2 (June 1987).
    • While the real-life inspiration for Bialya has not been specified, it is presumably based on Libya (a near-anagram of Bialya) and other Mid-Eastern countries ruled by military strongmen.
