Template:Object The Batwing[1] is Batman's personal aerial vehicle and a secondary mode of transportation. It is a powerful flying wing aircraft packing a vast arsenal including an array of weapons and gadgets.

History

After Batman promises Superman to rescue Martha Kent after their fight, Batman flies the Batwing to the warehouse where Anatoli Knyazev is keeping Martha hostage. After scouting the area, several armed trucks fire upon the Batwing to no effect. In turn, Batman fires his rotating machine guns at the trucks, obliterating them. As the Batwing approaches the warehouse, Alfred takes remote control of the Batwing and identifies 24 hostiles using thermal imaging. Batman then exits the aircraft and enters the warehouse, neutralizing all the mercenaries and rescuing Martha.

Afterwards, the Batwing flies to Metropolis to witness Doomsday unleash a wave of energy as he adapts atop LexCorp Tower. Later, Batman watches as the nuclear missile detonates well above Metropolis, apparently killing Doomsday and Superman. However, Doomsday crash-lands on Stryker's Island between Metropolis and Gotham and unleashes another stronger wave of energy as he adapts. The Batwing passes over Stryker's Island and narrowly misses Doomsday's heat blasts. After learning that Doomsday is Kryptonian, Batman attempts to lure Doomsday back to Gotham to kill him with the kryptonite spear. As the Batwing arrives back at the port of Gotham, Doomsday blasts the Batwing, severely damaging it and causing it to crash to the ground.

Capabilities

The Batwing is a tailless flying wing aircraft capable of VTOL flight and precise maneuvering in low altitudes. It is powered by twin jet engines in the rear that enables supersonic speeds. The Batwing is also capable of remote control from the Batcave if Batman ever needs to leave the Batwing.

The Batwing features a rotating gatling gun at the front and armaments of homing missiles. The exterior body is composed of bulletproof metals to easily withstand sustained gunfire from miniguns. It also has visible and thermal imaging systems to scan for enemy hostiles through walls or obstructions.
