Two weeks after the Battle of Metropolis, schoolboy Rory Greeley has been searching for his mother, who has been missing since the Black Zero Event. Instead of informing the authorities of this, he has for the past two weeks been working on a remote controlled drone to search the rubble for her.

Superman has been assisting rescue workers by clearing rubble and rescuing trapped civilians since General Zod was defeated. Also a telethon run by the Metropolis News Network is happening that night, to raise money for the victims of the attack and help with rebuilding the city.

Bruce Wayne while in the Batcave just returned from patrol as Batman, as crime had quadrupled since the Black Zero Event. Since the attack by the Kryptonians, criminals from Metropolis had moved over to Gotham. Bruce was going to the telthon tonight too, hoping to raise a lot for the victims. A few real estate developers were hoping to deal with Bruce, much to his disapproval.

Clark Kent was only a recent hire for the Daily Planet at this point. So his story pitches for the paper were not always approved. Clark hopes to do his articles on the fact that the attack had led to a mass exodus of criminals and buisness owners, he hoped to investigate which criminals they were, and the crime spike because of it. But Perry White shot him down, stating it was a Gotham affair. Clark was assigned to the websites blog to cover the telethon instead.

At Lewis Wilson Middle School, Rory showed off his 'project' for his homework assignment. He explains his drone has a camera lens and spinner blades to allow it to hover. It also has blinking LED lights to communicate in morse code. The drone is called RE-1.

Later that day at Rory's home he found his Uncle, Dr. Barbarius Aesop there. After discussing his mother, Rory and his uncle looked through his mothers files. Dr. Aesop decided to help Rory with his robot. Stating that it would need an A.I. Processor to give it the best technology.

Clark Kent was at the telthon at the Hotel Grand Lux. While there he overheard two bloggers discussing their hatred for Superman, but he was more focused on what they said about Dr. Aesop, revealing that he was a former WayneTech robotic division employee. He was later institutionalized at Arkham Asylum for delusional behaviour. As of recently he had escaped. Clark after gaining enough Intel becomes Superman.
