- "Auggie Smith, you are under arrest for the murder of Annie Sturphausen."
"I don't even know who the fuck that is!" - ―Sophie Song and Auggie Smith[src]
The Arrest of Auggie Smith was a successful attempt to frame Auggie Smith for the murder of Annie Sturphausen, who was killed by his son Peacemaker.
Background[]
John Economos changes Peacemaker's fingerprints.
- "We're trying to get this man on our side, and you thought the right way to do that was to frame his father?"
- ―Clemson Murn to John Economos[src]
During Peacemaker's escape from the Wild Estates Apartment Complex, "Clemson Murn" and John Economos went to Henenlotter Video while Emilia Harcourt and Leota Adebayo assisted Smith. Wanting to keep Smith from being arrested for Annie Sturphausen's death, "Murn" asked Economos to change the fingerprints on Smith's Ford Comet, an order he carried out for several hours. In revenge for Smith's mockery of his beard, he changed the fingerprints to Smith's father, August, frustrating "Murn" by framing his own ally's father, refusing to confess the truth to Smith when he returned to his teammates.
Sophie Song and Larry Fitzgibbon confront Auggie Smith.
Due to Auggie's incrimination, Sophie Song and Larry Fitzgibbon went to his house to confront him about their nationalities, during which Fitzgibbon threatened to put back on his old White Dragon Suit until Song asked where he was, only to be told by Auggie that he was at his house. Song demanded to know why his vehicle was in the Wild Estates parking lot if he claimed not to be in the building last night, confusing Auggie into revealing that the vehicle belonged to Smith and closing the front door of the house in front of the police officers to stop them from talking further. After being blackmailed by Leota Adebayo, Evan and Amber Calcaterra blamed August as the person responsible for tying them up in their apartment.[1]
Arrest[]
The neighbor makes fun of Auggie Smith's arrest.
- "With an attitude like that, you're definitely a supervillain. You're gonna end up in jail with your father soon enough!"
- ―August Smith's neighbor to Peacemaker[src]
With enough evidence to make an arrest, Auggie Smith was once again confronted at his home by Sophie Song and Larry Fitzgibbon, who brought in every officer from the Evergreen Police Department to arrest Smith for the murder of Annie Sturphausen, angering Smith due to never meeting the deceased while his neighbor mocked him for his arrest, causing Smith to hurl insults towards him and the officers for arresting him without doing anything, being sent to a police cruiser as the police duo watched with joy as Smith was arrested.[1]
Aftermath[]
Peacemaker talks with his father in prison.
- "They switched your fingerprints for mine."
"They did what?"
"I know, it's fucked up, but I had nothing to do with it." - ―Peacemaker and Auggie Smith[src]
After being arrested, Auggie Smith was taken to the Evergreen Corrections Center, where he was greeted and admired by Steve and other Aryan Empire fanatics, horrifying Sophie Song.[1] Later, Peacemaker learned that his father was wrongfully imprisoned by John Economos, so he went to visit Smith in prison, revealing that he was not guilty of his arrest and how his fingerprints had been changed. Although Smith wanted to tell the police the truth, Christopher asked him not to until his mission was over. However, Smith became totally disappointed in his son, deciding to tell Song everything.
After Adrian Chase's failed attempt to kill him,[2] Smith attempted to convince Song and Lawrence Fitzgibbon that he was framed, requesting that a fingerprint check be conducted. They discovered that the Ford Comet's registration number belonged to Christopher, and they discovered that he was the real culprit thanks to the Calcaterras' true confession, forcing the detectives to release Smith, but the infiltrator Caspar Locke prevented Smith from causing trouble.[3] Despite Locke's order, Song obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher, freeing Smith to seek revenge against his son.[4]
