Arkansas is a state in the West South Central region of the United States of America.[2]

In 1984, media entrepreneur Max Lord and his company Black Gold Cooperative owned two oil fields in central and northeastern Arkansas, one of many throughout the United States which Lord hoped would be oil-rich.[2]
