Aquaman: King of Atlantis is an upcoming three-part animated series that will be released on HBO Max. It will take place after the events of Aquaman, in the early days of Arthur Curry's rule as king of Atlantis and his adventures with his royal advisers Vulko and Mera.

The series will be the first-ever television series to be set in the DC Extended Universe, and will also be the first animated piece of media.

"The series begins with Aquaman’s first day on the job as king of Atlantis and he’s got a lot of catching up to do. Luckily, he has his two royal advisors to back him up – Vulko, the scholar, and Mera, the water controlling warrior-princess. Between dealing with unscrupulous surface dwellers, elder evils from beyond time and his own half-brother who wants to overthrow him, Aquaman is going to have to rise to the challenge and prove to his subjects, and to himself, that he’s the right man for the trident!"

On January 15, 2020, Variety reported that HBO Max had ordered a three-part animated series entitled Aquaman: King of Atlantis, with James Wan, director of Aquaman, serving as executive producer of the series under his Atomic Monster banner, and Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, and Sam Register also serving as executive producers. Victor Courtright and Marly Halpern-Graser will also serve as showrunners and co-executive producers.[1]
