Apollo was an Olympian God who was worshipped as the God of the Sun by the Ancient Greeks and the Amazons. Among the other Old Gods, he opposed Ares in his corruption of the Human race. When the God of War attempted to destroy the Amazons, Apollo fought against him in the War of the Gods, losing his life in the conflict.

War of the Gods[]
When Ares launched an attack on the Amazons, Apollo and the Old Gods opposed the God of War on Mount Olympus. In the battle, Apollo was slain by Ares, along with all other gods except Zeus.[1]
Legacy[]
In 2015 Lex Luthor compared Superman to several deities, including the Greek god Apollo.[2]
