Two years ago, Henry Cavill was announced to return as Superman for future movies beyond Black Adam, which is possibly he would of being in the upcoming "Superman" film and The Flash etc.
After the release of Black Adam in 2022, and the appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran, It was for sure that Cavill would reprise as the boy scout for the DCU. This wasn't the case, In the same month, Cavill was dismissed by James Gunn after his appointment as then DC Films, now known as DC Studios CEO.
Gunn has repeatly denied that he dismissed Cavill and has insisted to everyone he "gets along with him" , Gunn also blamed the likes of Ann Sarnoff, Toby Emmerich and Walter Hamada, the former WB team in his quote.
"I like Henry, I think he's a great guy," he added. "I think he's getting dicked around by a lot of people, including the former regime at this company. But this Superman is not Henry, for a number of reasons."
Cavill's dismissal was met with a worldwide spread of backlash from fans and audiences, with some straight-forwarding calling for James Gunn to resign with immediate effect, this is still an ongoing dispute to this very day. Gunn defending the decision, claiming that him and Safran knew what they would of "walked into" when they took the "job" (DC CEOS)
In 2024, Cavill took a dig, and has said nothing more, he doesn't intend to do any post-credits scenes that leads to nothing, but furthermore on the matter, he has not spoken about Superman or DC since 2022. this was his first time reflecting on the matter since.
