With more information about the DCU being dropped on us from on high, I've decided to revise my theory about the DCU canon that I posted a few days ago, and include what I think the multiverse will look like after The Flash.
As I've said before, I think The Flash will take advantage of its ability to alter the DCEU and transform it into James Gunn's new DCU, keeping some stuff canon and erasing things that were divisive or people just don't like. But I'm also beginning to believe that it will preserve what came before to a dregree, potentially in its own universe.
As before, here's my prediction for what the DCU will look like after The Flash:
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Shazam!
Birds of Prey
The Suicide Squad
Peacemaker
The Flash
Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Blue Beetle
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
James Gunn's Superman
But we also know that Snyder's work has a VERY passionate fanbase, and it could be that Gunn may want to separate and seal Zack Snyder's films off in their own world in the multiverse in case they ever want to do a follow up to Zack Snyder's Justice League (Snyder has discussed doing a comic book follow up with Jim Lee, so that's a possibility), as well as potentially releasing David Ayer's cut of Suicide Squad. Because of this, I'm thinking the original DCEU will survive, it just won't be the main DC movie universe going forward. Assuming that happens, this is what I'm thinking the original DCEU world will look like after The Flash:
Man of Steel
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Shazam!
Birds of Prey
Wonder Woman 1984
Zack Snyder's Justice League
The Flash (separates timelines, but starts in DCEU)
David Ayer's Suicide Squad
Potential Zack Snyder/Jim Lee ZSJL sequel comic
I also wouldn't be surprised if the theatrical cut of Justice League is confirmed to exist in its own universe in The Flash, and is mocked in some way. I'm not sure where Black Adam lies in this whole mess, but the Rock seems to have confirmed it won't be canon, though he may return as Adam regardless, and I could be wrong and it could be part of the DCU. For now, I'd just lump it in with the DCEU.
I also wouldn't be shocked if it was retconned so that TSS and Peacemaker were never part of the DCEU to begin with, and were only ever part of this new universe. Given their biggest connection to the wider DCEU is Aquaman and the Flash's cameos (which could easily be integrated into the new DCU), it seems like that could be easily accomplished.
Am I stretching too far? Does this sound logical? I want to know what you guys think. Bounce your ideas off of this!
