The Suicide Squad

I watched it for the first time recently as preparation for the DCU. It was pretty good. Really funny. The score wasn’t too bad and the action was pretty good. I can now say I’ve seen all but two DCEU films (I haven’t seen Suicide Squad or Birds of Prey).

These are just my favorites, I'm not trying to push them on anyone. I just want to write them down.

Before John Murphy took over, Tyler Bates, who frequently collaborated with director James Gunn, was originally pitched as composer. It's been implied by at least one source that Bates wrote music for Gunn to use on set as he previously did for the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films. However, he left for reasons unknown, leading Gunn to hire Murphy in May of 2020. As someone with an ear for music, it makes one wonder what The Suicide Squad could've musically sounded like if Tyler Bates remained on board. But what do y'all think?

The D.C. Database has confirmed that as a result of the Flashpoint events in The Flash, the events of the films Aquaman (2018) and The Suicide Squad (2021), in addition to season 1 of Peacemaker (2022), while technically part of the D.C.E.U., have also been integrated as part of the continuity of the D.C.U., even though Gunn says that Superman: Legacy (2025) is to be the "true" beginning of the franchise. With Aquaman, it makes one hope, more than ever, if they'll make a new Justice League film with events similar to, but different from, that of Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021), especially given Mera's statement late in the beginning that Arthur saved Atlantis from Steppenwolf, albeit in accordance with what Gunn and Safran have planned. Obviously, it'll take a long while given how sensitive a topic the League has become for film studios, but these factors, along with the title for the D.C.U.'s first chapter, "Gods and Monsters", which is named after one of the League's comic arcs and its 2015 animated film adaptation, makes one really hope that they'll one day make a new Justice League film story. If anything, though, I really hope that they don't have Doomsday kill Superman again before the League can begin uniting. But what do you all think???
