Arrowverse over Smallville? Why?
Probably because Smallville stopped a while ago, sadly. Still, Tyler Hoechlin is overpraised. Brandon Routh easily dwarfed him in charisma and everything else in Crisis.
Overpraised? All I see are people hating on him. I don't completely disagree myself, to be honest.
I mean when you look at the critics' and some outlets' reviews of the Supergirl show. They were so butthurt by Man of Steel and Batman v Superman they took the next available Superman thing that came out and touted it as the best since Christopher Reeve as long as it didn't look "dark / edgy / gritty" to them. Cringeworthy.
Bad casting, too. Can't really look at him and say that's Superman, too skinny, wrong hair style. He's also not a very well written character, used as a way to boost Kara and get her out of his shadow by kicking his ass. He should be used to support Kara and vice versa.
The best scene he had in my opinion was deleted, unfortunately.
Henry Cavill is so underrated, not just as Superman, but as an actor too. He was unfairly criticised for his supposed dark Superman. It's an evolution over several films, realistically speaking we wouldn't trust him immediately and he wouldn't be a perfect man.
Yup, Cavill's Superman's story wasn't given the chance to fully unfold, sadly. I still hope the Snyder cut of Justice League can come out.
What do you think?
